Demi Lovato just came out with a very personal announcement, bravely declaring to the world that the singer now identifies as non-binary and wants to be referred to using the pronouns them and they.

Piers Morgan decided this would not-so-coincidentally be the best time to smear Lovato's name indirectly, but posting a wildly sarcastic Tweet that has fans up in arms.

He used words such as "annoying" and "attention-seeking," and minimized Lovato's experience. As Morgan trolled the non-binary definition that Lovato has adopted, fans re-directed his hatred and threw it right back at him.

Piers Morgan Takes Aim At Lovato

Piers Morgan is certainly known for spewing hatred on others when she takes a poignant stand against someone else's perspective. His hateful, hurtful messaging really comes as no surprise when he targets a celebrity. The world grew accustomed to it when he took aim at Meghan Markle and then went on to troll the prime minister and a slew of other celebrities that he took issue with.

This time, however, his attack is a double-edged sword. He has lashed out at Demi Lovato, and by doing so using the words that he did, he also just slammed an entire community of people that identify as non-binary.

Morgan launched the mockery by saying; "Some personal news: I am proud to let you know that I identify as an annoying attention-seeking celebrity. This has come after a lot of self-reflective work but it's my truth & lived experience. "

Fans Retaliate

People were not impressed by Morgan's heartless trolling of Lovato. Someone wrote; "Hitting at @ddlovato will not take you anywhere. respect people's choices. guess it you who needs attention and is seeking one. we support Demi."

One man was very protective of the courage Lovato tapped into in order to come out as non-binary. He wrote; "Why did you, a middle aged man who should have learned better by now, feel the need to just take a pop at someone who’s struggled with their identity and has finally found some peace? What do you gain except nods of agreement from other angry older men?"

Another concerned fan wrote; "Tweets like this make it harder for people to come out. This mockingly uncharitable parody of people coming out as LGBT+ is damaging. Just because everything you do is for attention doesn’t mean it applies to everyone else."

Another person slammed back with;  "Piers, are u okay? Are things going on? Because ur obviously not happy talking bout someone who is SO happy within themselves and u clearly aren’t... plus I don’t understand why Demi’s identity affects you THIS much? Like move on, we know u don’t like them," and another said; "Piers, everyone identifies you that way. I mean, not a "celebrity," but "annoying" and "attention-seeking" are agreed upon by the vast majority.

One person even put Morgan back in his lane by saying; "just remove the “celebrity” part cuz u ain’t one."
