R. Kelly was just sentenced to three decades behind bars, but it appears he has a new fiancé – and she’s one of his alleged victims.According to Entertainment Tonight, Jocelyn Savage sent a letter to the judge prior to sentencing asking for leniency. In the letter, she writes, “I’m Robert Kelly’s fiancé.”“I’m writing this letter in support of Robert in advance of his sentencing, so I can explain to the court that I’m not the victim that the government has portrayed me to be,” Jocelyn wrote. She reportedly met Kelly when she was 19-years old.“We have a very special connection and are deeply in love,” she continued. “Robert is not the monster that the government has described him to be. The Robert I know is very sweet, gentle, and kind.”
R. Kelly’s Fiance’s Parents Believe He’s Coerced Her For Years
Jocelyn, 26, denied that anything inappropriate happened between the two of them, and says their relationship has been consensual.
However, her parents have been vocally outspoken against Kelly. The appeared in the docuseries Surviving R. Kelly where they claimed their daughter has long been manipulated and coerced by the Grammy winner.
They also made a statement to TMZ stating their family was unaware that Jocelyn considers herself engaged to Kelly. “She never made the engagement known to the family, and they’ve never even spoken about the possibility beforehand,” their attorney Gregg Griggs stated.
R. Kelly Has Married One Of His Victims Before
Last month, Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison after being found guilty on numerous charges, including racketeering, kidnapping, bribery, sex trafficking, and exploitation of a child.
“These crimes were calculated and carefully planned and regularly executed for almost 25 years,” the judge said during sentencing. “You taught them that love is enslavement and violence.”
Kelly has been accused of recruiting dozens of women to engage in sexual activity, dating back to the late ‘90s.
He has a long history of inappropriate relationships with female minors, including late R&B singer Aaliyah. Kelly began mentoring her when she was 12 years old after she was signed to Jive Records. However, Kelly went on to marry Aaliyah in 1994 when she was only 15 (and he was 27).
However, the couple’s relationship was ultimately annulled the following year after her parents revealed they used a fake birth certificate that falsely claimed Aaliyah was 18.
