Her memoir, Angelina: An Unauthorised Biography, sheds light on her crush for Johnny’s film and how she was “smitten” with him.
“At the same time, Angie dressed like a punk and identified with outsiders like the hero of Edward Scissorhands, the cult movie released in December 1990 that was a must-see for every goth worth her black mascara,” the biography claimed.
It further added, “Angie was smitten with actor Johnny Depp, who played Edward, an isolated figure with scissors for hands. The movie's themes of alienation and self-discovery spoke to the angst-ridden Angie.”
Johnny played the titular artificial humanoid in the 1990 American fantasy romance movie, which possessed scissor blades for hands.

Angelina and Johnny had later shared screens together in the film, The Tourist, and while promoting their joint venture, the actress had heaped praises on her leading man.
She gushed, “Of course I always wanted to work with Johnny Depp! What actress hasn’t? I’ve thought he was the coolest thing for years. I practically grew up with him, and had such a crush on him in Edward Scissorhands!”
In response to Angie’s remark, Johnny, who was quite blown away with his female lead’s personality, called her a “walking a poem.”
He said, “She’s kind of a walking poem, Angelina…You know she is this perfect beauty. But at the same time, very deep, very smart, very quick, very clever, and very funny. She also has a very perverse sense of humor. Yeah, she’s great fun.”
In another interview, Angelina also spoke about how much she enjoyed working with Johnny.
She admitted, “We just got put together in the film and we both like each other’s movies, but had never met. And we met and we talked about kids for the first hour and France for the second and had a good laugh. We really enjoyed working with each other in the film and I hope that comes across.”

The source disclosed to the outlet, “Word is, he’s said that in hindsight, he realizes he was settling for a poor man’s version of Angie.”
Despite Johnny’s tumultuous divorce from Amber Heard, the actor “has by no means given up on love,” adds the friend, who reveals that Johnny has been reaching out to the actress by sending her emails and flowers.
“A lot of their mutual friends think they’d actually be perfect for each other, and Johnny obviously feels the same!” the source said. Normally, as a result of their seamless chemistry on screen, the pair have been rumored to share a romantic relationship in the past.
