As every fan of HGTV’s Fixer Upper and its revival Fixer Upper: Welcome Home should know, Chip and Joanna Gaines are a married couple who own a home renovation company in Waco, Texas. As both of those shows have chronicled, the couple is extremely talented at taking an old rundown home and turning it into a gorgeous home that anyone would want to live in. After all, even though elements of Fixer Upper could be labeled fake, the fact remains that the homes seen on the show really are renovated.
Thanks to their years of TV stardom and their highly successful home renovation business, Joanna and Chip Gaines have been able to amass a truly impressive net worth. As a result, it took most of the Gaines’ fans by complete surprise when it was reported that they sold the farmhouse in 2017. However, at the time the Gaines reportedly sold their farmhouse, they had recently quit Fixer Upper at the height of its popularity and there were rumors about troubles in their marriage. As a result, many fans took the reports of the couple selling their farmhouse at face value.

The same day that reports that Chip and Joanna Gaines sold their famous farmhouse appeared online, a statement was released revealing that no sale had taken place. “Any report that Chip and Joanna have sold their farmhouse is completely untrue. They have not sold their home and they do not have any plans to do so.”
On top of revealing that they hadn’t sold their farmhouse, the aforementioned statement went on to explain where reports of the fictional sale originated from. “The Gaines recently moved their property line to match their fence line -- this is not uncommon and is a matter of public record -- which is likely what triggered this false report." Around the same time the Gaines cleared up the status of their farmhouse’s ownership, they also denied rumors that their marriage may come to an end.
Of course, there is an adage that states a lie travels around the globe while the truth is putting on its shoes for a reason. After all, only a fraction of people who saw the original report about the Gaines selling their farmhouse later found out the truth. As a result, some people still believe that Chip and Joanna Gaines once sold their farmhouse with some of those people thinking they reacquired it at one point. Additionally, some fans are confused when there are reports of the Gaines putting a farmhouse on the market. After all, those headlines rarely state that the couple is selling a different farmhouse they renovated and not their famous home.
