MGK and Megan Fox were cast together in the indie production Midnight in the Switchgrass, which began filming in March 2020. Machine Gun Kelly once revealed on The Drew Barrymore Show that he only took the role because he would get to meet Megan Fox.

MGK said that he positioned himself close to Fox's trailer on the first day because he had a hunch that she would invite him for lunch.

“I stayed outside the trailer, and my gut is always right... I knew she would invite me for lunch. And then, all of a sudden, someone came over and was like, ‘Megan wants to know if you want to have lunch in her trailer.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my god, I'm so surprised. Yeah, absolutely',” he told Barrymore.

Apparently, when he sat down for lunch with Fox, she asked him how he felt, to which he said 'he was lost.'

“She said, ‘Let's find you.’ And I was like...killed me. She was cupid,” Kelly said.

“I don’t really feel bad saying that because he did kind of cheat on me with Megan Fox.”
