25 years ago Princess Diana sat down for her infamous interview with Martin Bashir. The doe-eyed royal discussed feeling "unsupported" by the royal "establishment." The tell-all has sparked major comparisons to Meghan Markle's jaw-dropping sit-down with Oprah Winfrey.

The Duchess of Sussex told Winfrey she "couldn't be left alone" and confessed she "didn't want to be alive anymore."

The pregnant former actress claimed Buckingham Palace HR department ignored her plea for help because she wasn't a "paid employee."

After the two-hour Oprah interview aired in the US on CBS on Sunday,  filmmaker Ava DuVernay shared a clip from Diana's 1995 interview BBC Panorama to Twitter.

The clip sees the Princess of Wales explains why she felt "the establishment" she married into had "decided that [she's] a non-starter - because she did things 'differently."

Prince Harry's mother told journalist Martin Bashir: "Because I do things differently, because I don't go by a rule book, because I lead from the heart, not the head, and albeit that's got me into trouble in my work, I understand that. But someone's got to go out there and love people and show it."

During the Panorama interview Diana also opened up about her mental health struggles, eating disorder, and her estranged husband Charles affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.

After watching the comparisons on Twitter, some fans felt Meghan copied Diana's interview.

"It's obvious that Meghan studied/copied Diana's interview in some parts," one fan wrote.

"Meghan studied Diana. Harry is too stupid to see. Meghan is NUTS," a second shady comment read.

"What a surprise, NOT! Just shows how rehearsed it all was - wonder how many times she watched the recording to copy it......." a third chimed in.

One of the many bombs Markle dropped in her Oprah interview was that she "turned over" her passport, driving licence and keys when she was welcomed into the Royal family in 2016.

But sources have confirmed the Duchess of Sussex made at least 13 trips abroad after her relationship with Prince Harry emerged. In the much talked about Oprah interview, the L.A native declared all your personal identification is given to Palace aides when you join "The Firm."

Meghan, 39, claimed she didn't see her passport again until she and Harry quit as senior royals and moved to California. The Duchess described being isolated in England and only leaving her Palace twice in for four months.

But The Sun is reporting that the Duchess visited 13 countries as a tourist from when she started dating Prince Harry to September 2019. Prince Harry and Meghan also jetted off to Italy for fashion designer Misha Nonoo's lavish wedding.
