Of all the unexpected celebrity romances, the Grimes-Musk coupling seemed the most bizarre of all, but one that was apparently solid and even resulted in the pair having a controversially named child together.
Details have not yet arisen about the specifics of the pair's breakup, but if the internet has any say in it, there might be a very surprising culprit for Grimes and Musk's impending divorce — the star of To All The Boys I've Loved Before and current reigning king of the Netflix original rom-com, Noah Centineo.
The rumor of Centineo as a homewrecker who caused Grimes and Musk's separation seems to have originated from a blind item submitted to the website "crazydaysandnights". It reveals that a "celebrity CEO" had supposedly found out that his significant other was "hooking up" with "an A- list actor who has a history of not being kind to women". The blind was revealed to have been about the Musk/Grimes/Centineo trio, and its original poster backed up their claims by writing that "the split was announced within 24 hours of this post."
Some Twitter users are skeptical of this point of origin, with many questioning whether Centineo does indeed have "a history of not being kind to women", as the source suggests. But others have pegged the apparently bizarre nature of Grimes and Musk's breakup as on-brand for the couple, who have never shown themselves to be the conventional type.
However, there doesn't appear to be much evidence beyond this blind item of Centineo having any involvement in the Grimes-Musk split. Podcaster Michaela Okland tweeted about a sighting of the "Oblivion" songstress with Centineo, where they were supposedly "kissing at an olive garden." But she later redacted her claim and implied that she had been joking, writing, "I'm not just releasing this statement because Elon Musk threatened me or something ... Grimes and Noah are NOT in love and they do not frequent the Newport Beach Olive Garden to make out."
For some fans, the idea of Grimes and Centineo together was just too strange for comfort — maybe even more so than the pairing of Grimes with her former husband. One tweeted, "I struggle to believe that noah centineo could ever understand the concept of grimes let alone be in her orbit" while another wrote, "I gotta say, on my list of things I thought would happen in 2021, Grimes cheating on Elon Musk with Noah Centineo was nowhere close to being on it."
So, the verdict is: the evidence for Centineo having been responsible for Grimes and Musk's split just doesn't seem to be there. But, considering the highly secretive nature of many high-profile celebrity breakups, it's always fun to speculate. Especially when the speculated rumor is as entertaining as this one.
