While there have been tons of teen dramas on the air since the '90s, Beverly Hills 90210 is credited with being at the forefront of that genre. The high schoolers went through hard times like dating problems and families who didn't always treat them the way that they should have, and fans became engrossed in the drama that was delivered in every episode.

There are some flaws with the show, like the fact that Shannen Doherty's character Brenda is confusing, but for the most part, fans were pleased with the TV watching experience. It made sense that the show would return for a reboot in 2019.

Not every reboot does well and BH90210 was canceled after only one season. Since the cast members are such big stars, did they get a high salary for the Beverly Hills 90210 reboot? Let's take a look.

$70,000 For Each Episode

The original 90210 had BTS drama, and the reboot BH90210 offered an inside look at what it can be like to work on a TV show.

Fans are curious about what the cast was paid to return to the world of 90210. As it turns out, they were paid more than people might expect. The cast members have been paid $70,000 for each episode. According to Us Weekly, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Shannen Doherty, Gabrielle Carteris, and Tori Spelling, all made the same salary.

Stars of TV reboots have actually made more money, according to Closer Weekly. The publication says that The Connors came back in 2018, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, John Goodman, and Roseanne Barr were paid $375,000 for each episode. Debra Messing made $250,000 for each episode when Will & Grace came back in 2017, and the three other actors were paid the same.

Us Weekly points out that some of the stars directed episodes too and that brought their salary up. Priestley directed an episode and was paid $46,000, which is what the Directors Guild of America says that people should be paid for that job.

According to Us Weekly, Garth and Spelling co-created the show, which earned them $15,000 for each episode on top of the $70,000, meaning that their take home for each episode was $85,000.

The Experience

What was it like for the cast members to come back to the world that made them famous? Tori Spelling wanted to film more, according to Closer Weekly. She said, "We would love to continue to work together. It’s been such an amazing experience. I liken it to high school when you think, ‘Oh, you never get a chance to do a do-over, and there are things that you know now that you didn’t know then that you would’ve done differently and we get that opportunity.'”

It sounds like Jennie Garth loved being on the show, too. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, she said, "It was great and it was scary. And I needed therapy after it. But it was fun to be back with my old family."

Spelling also told Ew.com that she would have enjoyed another season. She explained, "In our minds, writing the last episode was foreshadowing another season. Going forward, the second season would be more laser-focused on the reboot. So the fans would get a much bigger percentage of us playing ourselves and our characters from the original 90210 as we would dive into what the reboot would look like."

The Cast's Net Worths

It's interesting to think about how much money the cast of Beverly Hills 90210 has in the bank. According to Cheat Sheet, Tori Spelling has the least amount of money as her net worth is only $500,000.

Jennie Garth has a lot more money as her net worth is $8 million. Ian Ziering has the same as her, and Shannen Doherty has a higher net worth of $10 million.

It's Jason Priestley, beloved for playing sweet Brandon Walsh on the teen drama, who has the most money. His net worth is $16 million. According to Celebrity Net Worth, he has also directed, so that seems like it would pay him pretty well. He not only directed Beverly Hills 90210 episodes but also the music video for the song "The Old Apartment" by the Barenaked Ladies.

Instead of giving fans what they expected, which was a show that continued the story of the major characters after the series finale aired in 2000, BH90210 was "meta." It was about the stars making a reboot of 90210.

According to Digital Spy, this is the reason that the show didn't get a second season. Michael Thorn, the entertainment president of Fox, talked to TV Line and said, "To sustain something that meta and heightened in the long-term is incredibly hard. We always kind of envisioned it as an event."
