On top of hair and makeup professionals, many stars have turned to dentists to help their pearly whites look fantastic. When it comes to Cruise's mouth, it is abundantly clear that he has gotten a lot of help from dentists. However, one thing some fans are unclear about is whether Cruise actually had his middle tooth removed in the past.

What Happened To Tom Cruise's Teeth?

Long before Tom Cruise became best known for the Mission: Impossible film franchise, he starred in an ensemble film called The Outsiders. When modern fans see Cruise's smile in that film, they are bound to be shocked.

While it would take a qualified dentist to accurately explain what was going on with Cruise's teeth when he filmed The Outsiders, suffice it to say they look less than perfect. As it turns out, a big portion of the reason that is the case is Cruise opted to have gnarly teeth for his role.

While preparing to film The Outsiders, Cruise voluntarily had a cap removed from one of his front teeth. As Cruise has revealed in the past, Cruise's front tooth was chipped when it was hit with a hockey puck earlier in his life.

However, it is still worth noting that Cruise got extensive help from dentists that had nothing to do with the aforementioned hockey accident, a sport the actor appears to be a big fan of.

In the early 2000s, Cruise was already a huge movie star. As a result, many were surprised when he suddenly got braces during that era. After all, Cruise's teeth clearly weren't holding his career back and adults rarely get braces, even though there is nothing wrong with that.

At that time, it was reported that Cruise got the braces to address "an overbite and misalignment problems".

On other occasions, it has been reported that Cruise underwent teeth whitening early in his career. More recently, it has been revealed that Cruise got veneers installed.

Given all the times that Cruise's teeth have been transformed by dentists, it isn't overly shocking that there have been rumors about his mouth. However, it does seem strange that some people think he may have had his "middle tooth" removed.

First off, there is no such thing as a "middle tooth", so it is unclear how Cruise could have gotten one removed. As for why people talk about Cruise's "middle tooth", that is simply because his jawline is slightly off-center to his face. There is no way to fix that by removing a tooth and there is no evidence that Cruise had any teeth removed.

Tom Cruise's Embarrassing Tooth Story

In 2021, Showtime released a docuseries titled Gossip. During the series' production, a former editor-in-chief at The New York Post named Col Allen was interviewed, and he revealed an amazing story about Tom Cruise's teeth.

According to Allen, Cruise invited him out one night and in the middle of their time together, two of the actor's veneers fell out of his mouth. In response, Cruise, who is well known for his affluent lifestyle, begged Allen not to reveal the story.

“They bought a house in the Village, and they wanted some privacy and they were worried about Page Six. So Tom wanted to have a drink with me, and you know, talk about his expectations."

“We went to a place — I think it was on 54th street, called Circo. We sat in a corner and he actually ordered a bottle of red wine, which I thought was surprising because he was a Scientologist and they generally don’t drink.”

“And we’re drinking and talking, and the next thing I know, both of his front teeth fell out onto the table cloth right in front of me.”

“I mean, this is a face that’s on posters all over the world, good looking guy and there are his front teeth."

“I made the mistake of telling Cindy, who you know [said] ‘Oh my god that’s great, I’m gonna write that,’" he recalled, "and I said, ‘No you can’t do that. I gave Tom my word I wouldn’t do it.’"

“So you know, that story was never published until I’ve just told you right now, so there you go.”
