Disney+ just announced that the dynamic duo, Mike Wazowski, and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan of Monsters Inc., will return for yet another adventure in the sequel series Monsters At Work.

The original 2001 film was followed by a prequel, called Monsters University. The film was released in 2013 and told the story of Mike and Sully in college.

The upcoming project will pick up where the original film left off. After coming to the realization that children’s laughter is more powerful than screams, the energy-producing scare factory Monsters, Incorporated will now teach monsters how to be "Jokesters."

The story will center, not around Mike and Sully, but around Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman), a diligent young monster who graduated at the top of his class at Monsters University.

Tuskmon has always dreamed of becoming a Scarer, but once he gains employment at Monsters, Incorporated, he discovers that the factory has transitioned from scaring to generating laughter.

After he is instead assigned to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT), he must work alongside a group of mechanics while coming to terms with becoming a Jokester and not a Scarer.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Mike and Sully will still make an appearance, along with Ms. Flint (Bonnie Hunt), who was in charge of training monsters to be Scarers. Now, she will train them to be Jokesters.

While the series introduces an array of new monsters, voice actors Billy Crystal and John Goodman will reprise their roles as Mike and Sully in Monsters At Work.

Earlier this week, Disney+ announced that Mindy Kaling has joined the cast of the highly-anticipated series. Kaling will voice the role of Val Little, an enthusiastic member of the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team.

Kaling will star alongside Henry Winkler (from Happy Days) as Fritz; Lucas Neff (from Raising Hope) as Duncan; and Alanna Ubach (from Coco) as Cutter.

Other returning cast members include John Ratzenberger as Yeti and Tylor’s dad, Jennifer Tilly as Celia Mae, and Bob Peterson as Roze.

The series will be executive produced by Bobs Gannaway, who has worked on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the Disneytoon Studios movie Planes. Academy Award-nominated Sean Lurie (Inner Workings) is set to produce and Kat Good (Big Hero 6 The Series) and Steve Anderson (Meet the Robinsons) will serve as supervising directors.

The new animated series Monsters At Work is set to premiere on Disney Plus on July 2.
