Disney Honors Toy Story Land's Grand Opening With Slinky Dog Ears

Slinky Dog Ears

Just in time for July 4th, Disney opened Toy Story Land, a theme park dedicated to the beloved Pixar film franchise. As you’d expect, there are a whole bunch of Toy Story-themed rides, some very creepy costumes of Buzz Lightyear and Woody, as well as a bunch of staff who are all painted green to play the toy soldiers.

No word yet on whether they bark at park-attendees like drill sergeants or not, but we’re sure to see a video of that soon.

The park is located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which is in Disney World, Florida.

And located inside Toy Story Land is a rollercoaster called Slinky Dog Dash. It’s not a fully-fledged coaster designed to make everyone scream at the top of their lungs--it’s more of a kiddy coaster designed to give parents a bit of a thrill while getting their kids all worked up. For some, it’ll be a stepping stone to greater rollercoasters, while for others it’ll be enough to convince them to never go that fast outside of a safety-inspected vehicle ever again.

Beside the rollercoaster is a kiosk that’s selling quite possibly the most amazing set of ears you can imagine. No, these ones will not turn their wearer into Mickey Mouse, they are Slinky Dog ears. But they're almost not even ears at all. They're more like an entire plush Slinky Dog stretched out over a hairband, coiled spring included.

Are they adorable? Yes. Should you go all the way to Florida just to get a pair? Also yes.

These “ears” seem to only be found in Toy Story Land, as well as the neighboring area of Hollywood Studios, so maybe it’s time to plan that trip to Disney World that you’ve been promising the kids for years. It’ll be a great trip. But secretly (or maybe not so secretly), it’s all just to grab the Slinky Dog headband.

Or 12. Gotta have a few spares.
