This DIY Dog Crate Doubles As Furniture

This easy DIY dog crate not only doubles as furniture but will also be a fabulous addition to any room in your house.

Those who have puppies know that crating your furry friend can be a necessity in the beginning. Even if you hate it, when you are not home or sleeping, having your friend in a crate is essential. The crate should be roomy, have their toys and of course be an excellent environment for the dog.

Generally, most dog crates are ugly. They are black or silver, look cold, uninviting and are unattractive in any room of your home. Well, there is good news for those who need a dog crate and happens to be crafty. In fact, even if you are not overly crafty there is still hope. According to PopSugar, there is a DIY dog crate that doubles as furniture.

The materials needed for this fun project can be found anywhere and are relatively cheap. Instead of using wood, use melamine, which is cheaper but looks just as lovely. Other materials include melamine tape, melamine finishing dots, screws, a drill, and power screwdriver.

Remember you are using an actual dog crate and building it to be like furniture, so the specs depend on the size. What you need is enough melamine for the lid, for the short top and bottom crossbars, as well as all of the corner posts.

It will take a while to put together but essential you cover the posts, the lid and the crossbars with the melamine. The crate will obviously still be see-through but you can use the top for a lamp, or pictures and it can perfectly fit in a corner or at the edge of your couch out in the open.

The project is a bit time consuming but in the end, your pup will have a comfy crate, and you will have a new piece of furniture. You can paint it any color you want, which is a great way to brighten up any room in your house. If you have the time and space, this is one fun DIY project we highly recommend doing.
