So a few months ago I moved into a new apartment with my partner. It is a pretty nice place, very open and bright with modern furniture and a cute living room rug. However, we still don't have many decorations on the walls. We have a hall mirror and two pictures in our bedroom but overall it is pretty bare.

With the holiday season upon us, we decided it was time to start decorating for Christmas. Because this is our first apartment, we wanted to keep the decorations simple and budget-friendly but also cute. We headed to the dollar store for some inspiration but I found that most decorations were too flashy and cheap-looking for my taste. Then, when I was in the Christmas aisle, I got an idea.

I remembered that I have this huge glass vase in my house and I thought it would be cool to make a holiday centrepiece for our table. I call this "Christmas in a Vase" and this is what you will need for this craft:

-1 large glass vase or wide-mouthed jar ( you can make a mini one in a mason jar)

-1 pack of red assorted Christmas balls

-1 pack of green assorted Christmas balls

-6 Pinecones ( I chose Cinnamon and clove-scented)

-1 Roll of Sparkly Red Ribbon

-1 Set of battery-powered Rainbow LED lights

-Small Balsam or Fir branches

You should be able to find all the materials at the dollar store for under 15$!

How to assemble:

How you decide to assemble this beautiful table centrepiece is pretty much up to you! Want to put all the pinecones at the bottom? Go for it! Want the ribbon to wrap around the outside? Sounds good!

The important part to make sure you do right is how you assemble the lights. For this part, you will want to make sure that you put your string of lights into the vase with the battery pack sticking out at the top. This way you can turn the lights on and off as you want. You will also want to make sure to thread your lights in with the other decorations as you go along. This way there won't be clumps of lights in one spot and empty spaces in others.

Finish your centerpiece off with some sparkles or confetti and watch the holiday magic fill your room!
