Given that he's forever imprinted himself in the minds of his fans as a young, geeky, Dungeons & Dragons player from the hit Netflix show, Stranger Things, this can be a somewhat shocking revelation. Much like his co-star, Millie Bobby Brown. Finn is of age and out there on the dating scene. At least, it appears as though he is. Unlike some celebrities, the Ghostbusters: Afterlife and It star likes to keep things on the DL.
A lot has been made of Finn's mysterious romantic life. He was rumored to be attached to his on-screen love interest from Stranger Things, as well as his It co-star, Jack Dylan Grazer. But in reality, he appears to secretly be dating an up-and-coming actor named Elsie Richter. Here's the truth about their relationship...
How Did Finn Wolfhard Meet Elsie Richter?
The now 19-year-old Vancouver, B.C.-born actor is reminding us every day that he's no longer a boy. Even in the recently released trailer for Stranger Things Season 4, it's abundantly clear that Finn Wolfhard is now a young man. This means that more and more people will be crushing on him and wondering about whether or not he has a girlfriend.
As soon as Finn was spotted at an NBA game with Doll & Em star Elsie Richter in March 2021, rumors started swirling about their relationship. Richter was born in England and comes from a family of actors, most notably her mother Dolly Wells. At this point in time, we don't know precisely how the two met. While they are both around the same age and in the same industry, they don't have much cross-over beyond that. So, it's hard to even speculate as to how the two met.
However, their videos together prove that they share many of the same friends, so their connection could have come from there.
While Finn and Elsie could have tried to keep things quiet after rumors started swirling following their NBA game appearance, they continued to be spotted together. Elsie even shared a pic of her and Finn at an indoor rock climbing gym.
Elsie continued to post videos that related to Finn on her social media. She posted several short vlogs of her adventures with her friends, in which Finn often made brief appearances. Elso also seemingly parodied a video by Millie Bobby Brown. This caused fans to speculate that the two do not like each other, possibly due to the connection Millie has with Finn and the rumors of a relationship.
Still, neither of them came right out and stated that they were dating. Instead, they just left things up for interpretation. But fans didn't like this. According to his interview in The Washington Post, Finn claimed that his toxic fans threaten to expose Elsie's personal information, including her address, if Finn didn't come right out and confirm that they were together.
"They’re like, 'Oh, okay, I’m so sorry. We love her. It all fades literally once you’re like, 'Hey, calm down. It’s cool. I’m a real person.' It’s almost like a trance or something. Maybe it’s a power thing," Finn said of his negative experience, before adding, "I think about deleting Twitter every single day. I don’t even check it anymore."
Are Elsie And Finn Still Together?
Given Finn and Elsie's terrible experience with his nosey fanbase, it makes sense why they've continued to basically share nothing about their relationship publicly. Neither of them even uses their socials all that often. When they do, they almost never share anything about each other. This has led fans to believe that they are no longer an item in 2022. With the upcoming release of Stranger Things Season 4, there's been added attention to Finn's personal life. So, it's doubtful that he and Elsie will reveal much more until the heat dies down.
While Finn and Elise have been spotted by fans out in public on a few occasions, we can't say with certainty that the pair are still together. Since they play things so close to the chest, fans simply have to wait and see. There may come a time when Finn and Elsie feel comfortable with sharing the details of their romantic life, but that time is not now.
Though there is no clear answer about the status of their relationship, there also have not been any rumors about Finn and Elise splitting up. So that may be a good sign for fans of the couple.
Unlike most celebrities, Finn wants to keep his personal life... well... personal. And that's something fans have no choice but to accept.
