The last few years have been nothing if not eventful for Johnny Depp. It started with the defamation trial between him and his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard. As readers surely know, it was widely publicized and not always taken as seriously as it probably should have been. The verdict, which stated that Amber Heard had defamed Johnny Depp when she'd accused him of domestic violence, was controversial, but it also marked the actor's return to public life.

Johnny Depp decided to make his big comeback by going on tour with Jeff Beck, which was somewhat surprising. But his career in music is a lot more important than people realize.

How Much Is Johnny Depp Currently Worth?

A lot has been said about Johnny Depp's net worth recently. The actor has been out of the game for a few years now and losing some of his most lucrative roles like Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean and Grindelwald in Harry Potter's Fantastic Beasts certainly impacted his income.

That, added to the most likely very expensive legal fees he's had to take care of for the past few years, has probably reduced what was an impressive fortune.

Still, Johnny Depp is definitely not strapped for cash. For years, he was one of the best-paid actors in Hollywood, making as much as $100 million per year.

In fact, according to a lawsuit against his former business manager, Johnny earned $650 million in salaries, backend profits, and endorsement contracts in just 13 years. Now, his reported net worth is $150 million, and he makes $20 million upfront per movie, plus 20% of the backend.

So, it's safe to say that the actor is doing alright.

Music Was Always Close To Johnny's Heart

After the long and grueling defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard ended, most of Johnny's fans wanted him to finally go back to acting.

However, the actor made a different decision. Just days after the trial ended, he was seen on stage with musician Jeff Beck, surprising everyone. He ended up going on tour, and shortly after the two of them announced that they would be releasing an album together titled 18.

"When Johnny and I started playing together, it really ignited our youthful spirit and creativity. We would joke about how we felt 18 again so that just became the album title too," Jeff Beck explained.

The musician is over the moon ever since he started working with Johnny.

"I met this guy five years ago and we’ve never stopped laughing since. We actually made an album. I don’t know how it happened. It will be out in July," he said to the crowd during a concert, telling the world about the album for the first time.

Johnny felt the same, and for him, it was a perfect return to the public world. "It’s an extraordinary honor to play and write music with Jeff, one of the true greats and someone I am now privileged enough to call my brother," he said.

It makes sense that, after such an intense process as the trial, Johnny chose to turn to music instead of returning to acting right away. After all, as he explained on several occasions, it was music that was his first love, and as a kid, he wanted to be a rock star before he wanted to be an actor.

His work with Jeff Beck is not the first big music project Johnny Depp embarked in. Fans might know about the band the actor has with singer Alice Cooper and Aerosmith guitar player Joe Perry, The Hollywood Vampires. The group was formed in 2012, and they have since released two albums.

While this is not Johnny's main source of income, his music career does earn him money, not only with sales and streams but with tours. With The Hollywood Vampires, Johnny Depp toured the United States and some countries in Europe.

Johnny Does More Than Sing And Act, Too

Like many other public figures, Johnny Depp makes a lot of money from partnering with different brands and companies. The one that stands out the most right now is his deal with Dior for the perfume Sauvage.

He has been collaborating with them since 2015, and their partnership made the headlines because they were one of the few brands that didn't drop the actor in light of the accusations against him. After the trial, his reputation started recovering, and they renewed their contract.

"Sauvage is unique and certainly stands alone, and for me, it’s the best and the most intoxicating fragrance out there. I’m glad that we’re together for this latest chapter in the story," he said about it.

"I’m happy to be here. Thanks Dior for bringing me back. Sauvage knows no boundaries so who knows where we could take it next."

It's clear that there are many things in store for Johnny Depp in his return to public life, and fans can't wait to see it.
