'House of Gucci' isn't even out yet and the internet is already saying 'te amo' to Lady Gaga's latest project. She's getting Oscar buzz from the trailer alone, and the few lines her character says within it are iconic already.

It's Gaga's Italian accent that's got most people excited- but some of them are convinced she doesn't sound Italian at all. Read on to hear for yourself and discover what actual Italians (and Russians!) have to say about it all.

Listen to Gaga Go 'Peak Italian'

MGM dropped this official trailer for 'House of Gucci' yesterday after months of buzz about everything from casting to costumes in this Maurizio Gucci biopic. It features Adam Driver in the uber-glamorous role of Maurizio and Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani, his wife.

Since Gaga is actually Italian, some fans believe this is the role the star was born (get it?) to play! (She's never been shy about mentioning her Italian roots, as you can hear for yourself right here:)

Some Fans Think She Sounds Russian, Though

For someone who's proudly claimed Italian heritage, you'd think Gaga would knock this out of the park. While some fans think she does, others claim she veers a little east of Italy in her depiction of Patrizia's voice.

The top comment on the 'House Of Gucci' official IG post introducing Gaga reads "Sounds like she's doing a Russian accent."

Another response involves a crying face emoji and "thought so too - much more vodka than vino."

Other comments like "She sounds a bit Russian tho" and "No expert, but she sounded Russian to me" fill most of the post's comment sections- and people who ARE experts at Italian (aka actual Italians) shared their thoughts, too:

"I do speak both Italian and English.. I'm just saying that she is good, but her Italian accent is not as good," wrote Francesca Matteucci on @TheGucciMovie's IG. "Actors are supposed to do that for a living.. or it could be director's choice to mock italian accent." Ouch.

"Oh yeah I totally agree," commented Italian IG user Marta Rossi. "I'm not here for the forced Italian accents to be honest..."

Some Russians Say She Actually Sounds Italian

Russian fans of Gaga have now taken to Twitter to defend Mother Monster's accent choices. For the most part, they seem to think she doesn't actually sound Russian at all:

"There's nothing similar to Russian accent," another Russian Twitter user's reply reads. "And I think she sounds exactly like Patrizia."

"They even don't speak russian and say it is russian accent," reads another, with more adding "they think that all accents with a strong "R" are russian."

So what accent is Gaga putting on? And does it matter that people can't decide?

As one fan on Twitter put it: "They could all talk like Minnesotans and I’d still go watch."
