Meet Ser Gregor, first of the house of Domino’s. The pizza, that is.
Game of Thrones is back for its eighth and final season. People around the world are going nuts every Sunday night, scheduling viewing parties or just sitting alone in their room with a half-eaten slice of pizza hanging out of their mouths.
Seeing the opportunity here, one Domino’s employee in Scotland decided to perform a bit of viral marketing. Using only supplies found around the restaurant, he created the iron throne made entirely out of pizza boxes, empty soda bottles, and aluminum foil. The cape was made out of a pair of aprons while the staff is actually a pizza peel. Beside him, an open pizza box spells out in vaguely Game of Thrones-ish font: “Pizza is Coming.”
The whole effect is really quite stunning and it was an instant hit online. Our genius pizza restaurateur, Gregor Donnelly, posted the image of his custom pizza throne to his Twitter account on April 14th and it has since gone viral, generating over 88,000 likes and over 19,000 retweets.
Most responses were incredibly positive, with many Twitter users suggesting that Donnelly deserved a raise for his marketing efforts. Several Twitter users said they ordered pizzas from Domino’s specifically because of Gregor’s throne.
Domino's just got an order for 6 large pizzas from our group (instead of our regular pizza joint) just because of this image. So, at they certainly benefited from it. 🤣— Justin Andrew Mason (@JMason333) April 14, 2019
Others even played along, providing Donnelly with an appropriately Westerosian noble’s title. “Ser Gregor of House Donnelly, first of his name, King of the Cheeses and the First Toppings, The Chef, Lord of Pepperoni and a side order of wings,” wrote one Twitter user, which later gained 600 likes.

Domino’s official UK Twitter channel even got in on the action, telling “Ser Gregor” that the “House of Domino’s salutes you.”
There are just five episodes left of Game of Thrones, with the next episode set to air at 9 PM local time on HBO. Consider ordering a Domino’s pizza in honor of the occasion, and tell them that Ser Gregor sent you.
