The very lengthy filmography of Drew Barrymore started out with roles in beloved horror and sci-fi films, including two Stephen King movies.

The Charlie’s Angels star recently opened up on how working with Stephen King when she was very young shaped her career.

Drew Barrymore And Stephen King Talk ‘Firestarter’ And ‘Cat’s Eye’

“You were such an important person to me when I was a kid because we did Firestarter together,” she told King on a segment of The Drew Barrymore Show.

Released in 1984, Firestarter is inspired by King’s 1980 novel of the same name. The film features a young Barrymore in the role of a girl with pyrokinesis who becomes the target of a secret government agency known as "The Shop."

Barrymore’s love for King is definitely reciprocated. The writer revealed he kept a picture the actress gave him when she was a child including a note saying “To Stephen, I love you dearly.”

“It’s hung on my office wall for well over forty years,” King said.

Barrymore looked back at working on stories brought to life by King on both Firestarter and Cat’s Eye, released in 1985.

“Those years with you and meeting Tabitha [Spruce, King’s wife] and your whole family and being in your family home and in your world was very important to me,” Barrymore told King.

“It made important lifelong impressions that I hold so dearly in my heart,” she continued.

"Not only were you a great actress, very, very young, you were a good person and you’re still a good person,” King replied.

‘Scream Queen’ Drew Barrymore Isn’t A Fan Of Scary Movies

Despite starring in iconic roles in horror franchises such as Scream, Barrymore had revealed she doesn’t really watch horror movies.

Last year, the actress said she isn’t exactly a fan of horror flicks and prefer not to watch them.

“Everyone says these movies are just terrifying,” Barrymore commented on a ranking of the scariest horror movies.

“Funny enough, contrary to probably popular belief, I am terrified of scary movies and do not watch them,” she revealed.

The admission prompted Barrymore’s co-star, writer and actress Jill Kargman, to point out Barrymore is, quite literally, the “Scream Queen”.

“I know! That’s what makes it so weird,” Barrymore continued.
