Dwayne Johnson has plenty of range in TV and movies, but Danny DeVito is arguably the most famous for being funny between the two. But in their 2019 film 'Jumanji: The Next Level,' the two enjoy plenty of exploits on screen. The thing is, those exploits transitioned off-screen, too.
Dwayne Johnson may have narrowly missed portraying Willy Wonka, but his role in 'Jumanji' was an interesting turn, too. Plus, it put him on-screen alongside one of the most hilarious people in Hollywood: Danny DeVito.
DeVito has had an interesting career trajectory, too, including a long-ago gig working in funeral homes. But in 'Jumanji,' the duo struck up a friendship that combined their comedic talents and penchant for having a little too much fun.
How Did Dwayne Johnson And Danny DeVito Become Friends?
It makes sense that the cast of 'Jumanji' would bond, but Danny DeVito and Dwayne Johnson already knew each other when filming began! The two were in the movie 'Be Cool' back in 2005, with a handful of other well-known stars like Uma Thurman, John Travolta, and Vince Vaughn.
So when the opportunity came up to jump into the Jumanji game together, the guys were apparently all over it.
And while they were working on the movie, they got up to some fun shenanigans outside of the set. As The Rock documented on his Instagram at the time, he and Danny were chilling out and having a drink together when they heard a wedding party celebrating. So what else could they do other than crash the party?
The pair jumped into a couple's wedding, sang a karaoke song, and snapped photographs with the lucky bride and groom. They also gave some advice to the new couple (who shared a few kids between them), including tidbits like knowing when to defer to the woman of the house.
What Do Danny And Dwayne Have In Common?
Though the interaction was entertaining, fans will remember that both Dwayne and Danny are family guys at heart. Each of them has three kids -- Dwayne three daughters and Danny two daughters and a son. Plus, both maintain positive relationships with their kids' moms.
Danny is separated from his wife Rhea Perlman, but they only have good things to say about one another. And Dwayne is known for being on good terms with his eldest daughter's mom, who also happens to be his manager, while also being married to his two younger kids' mom.
In fact, the two comedy geniuses could share plenty of co-parenting advice with the new couple, but the bride and groom were probably just fine with their 'gift' of a star-studded karaoke performance.
