Megastar Dwayne Johnson was a very different man before fame. Prior to owning the likes of Teremana, ZOA, the XFL and so much else, he was grinding trying to make a name for himself as a football player. As we’ve come to learn on ‘Young Rock’, he made several regrettable decisions at the time. He was oozing with confidence at the start of his University of Miami football career and that translated off the field as well. Let’s be real, it takes confidence to rock such a look, DJ admitted with People, “Alright, so here’s the thing,” Johnson begins to explain to PEOPLE. “It takes a lot of confidence to rock a fanny pack. Put your thumb in the fanny pack. I’m giving a look.”

As if the photo of the outfit wasn’t iconic enough, he added to it, by pointing out that he stuck a tissue under his elbow not to dirty his expensive shirt, “I’ve got a tissue underneath my elbow because I felt like my turtleneck was expensive,” he says, laughing. “The funniest thing about this picture is, this is not a joke. I walked out of the house like this. Like: Hey baby, this is it, right?”

A highlight of the episode was Dwayne Johnson finally revealing what was in the fanny pack, the answer is a couple of items only a few would guess.

Fanny Pack Essentials

“Turtle neck, fanny pack, chain, Dwayne.” When it comes to the fanny pack, the theme was “eat it and beat it.” The pack contained nothing more than pop tarts and condoms. Oh to be a teen! He shared the iconic scene to his IG.

As we saw later in the episode, things would take a bad turn later on. DJ went from the highest highs to the lowest lows, as he picked up a nasty injury which derailed all his momentum. He would spiral for a little bit, heading back home with his parents.

As we all know by now, the football injury hurt DJ’s chances and he never made it. Looking back, the might’ve been the best thing that ever happened to him as he’s regarded as the most popular actor in Hollywood nowadays. Without a doubt, it all worked out in the end.
