Ed Sheeran sells record one million tickets!

Ed Sheeran is breaking records left and right. According to MSN.com The “Shape Of You” singer has officially sold a record holding one million tickets, yes, that’s right, one million, for his massive 18-show stadium tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Ed Sheeran has been topping the charts since his debut in September of 2011 with his first official studio album titled “+” (pronounced: plus). With massive hits including “Perfect”, “The A-Team” and “Thinking Out Loud”, it is no surprise that the singer-songwriter has achieved this record.

The only person to have held the record prior to Sheeran was Dire Straits’ record of 950,000 set during the band’s 1986 tour, kudos to you Ed! The singer revealed he will also be offering exclusive merchandise to Australian fans through Divide (the title of Sheeran’s latest album), pop-up stores in a world-first. Sheeran is celebrating his achievements, including having been the best-selling recording artist of last year.

The Grammy Award winner will begin his set tour in Perth, Australia, performing the first show at the new Optus Stadium on Friday night. The highly anticipated tour already has Sheeran fans camping at the venue, with a group of friends planning to attend all of his shows on this tour, talk about dedication to an artist!

If the news of selling one million tickets isn’t already an impressive feat, Sheeran is also celebrating his recent engagement. The 26-year-old announced his engagement to girlfriend Cherry Seaborn on January 20, 2018, after three years of dating. The singer admitted he has known Seaborn since the age of 11, and always knew she would be the one.

With wedding season in full spring, Sheeran will also be making an appearance at one of the most anticipated weddings of the year. Sheeran has yet to confirm, but reports say he is set to perform for Prince Harry and wife-to-be Meghan Markle during their royal nuptials on May 19, 2018.
