It's safe to say that Ellen isn't everyone's favorite person this year. Her plummeting popularity has been in the news for months, whether it's involved mistreating the workers at 'The Ellen Show' or insulting its guests.

Apparently not everyone has noticed Ellen's uncool factor, though. Some blissfully unaware parents just gave their daughter something that LGBTQ Twitter has been flaming all day.

It's undeniable: Ellen's contributions to the LGBTQ community are legendary. She was the first actress to come out on TV, she's given thousands to 'The Trevor Project,' and she's earned a Presidential Medal of Freedom for being a "passionate advocate for equality and fairness."

Ellen's past achievements and pre-2020 reputation must have been the thought behind one girl's tone deaf Christmas gift this year. Here's the well-meaning present a Twitter user named Sophie just received:

Most responses to her Tweet were cry-laughing emojis and "omg"s, with her followers pointing out how funny it was to get "swag" from 2020's most hated television show just because she's LGBTQ.

Some found the socks to be especially cringey after Ellen's kindness slogan got trashed this year with reports of her treating staff in cruel and unusual ways.

"I feel like the 'be kind' socks are laughing at me and they also look homophobic," wrote one of Sophie's followers.

Others used screenshots with Ellen's famously awkward Dakota Johnson interview to acknowledge the 'yikes' factor of Sophie's gift.

Ellen Responded with a Simple Tweet

Sophie's awkward Christmas present situation went pretty viral on Twitter. Ellen DeGeneres herself is super active on Twitter, so it was only a matter of time before she saw it with her own eyes.

Keeping it classy, Ellen had one friendly message for the girl with the unwanted gift:

Fans in Ellen's reply section encouraged Sophie to ease up on the talk show host, and to be grateful for her parents' support of her LGBTQ identity.

"Just keep telling yourself it’s the thought that counts," suggested one of Ellen's followers.

"I think it's kinda nice? Obviously they aren't judging," wrote another. "IDK, maybe I wish my family had the same outlook. I wouldn't be offended. I'd be like...thanks."

However out of touch Sophie's parents were on her opinion of Ellen, it's definitely true - they were being (de)generous.
