Sure, Ellie Kemper's rise to fame hasn't been without its drama. But she has had numerous roles that fans loved her in, and she's found some success behind the scenes too. In fact, one of her gigs actually led to her meeting her husband, Michael Koman.

The thing is, Conan O'Brien played a part in Ellie Kemper meeting her husband, although he didn't know it at the time.

Ellie Kemper Met Her Husband At Work

Like many celebrities, Ellie Kemper met her husband while at work. But it wasn't a conventional meeting where they played romantic co-leads in a film like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. It was probably more akin to the way Emily Blunt met her husband John Krasinski; kind of 'lame.'

After all, neither Elllie nor Michael was really in the spotlight at that point. The job where Ellie met her husband had her working as an intern, so she was very much behind the scenes. The thing was, so was her hubby.

Ellie Kemper Met Her Husband On Conan O'Brien's Show

While he didn't have a direct hand in them meeting, Conan O'Brien did influence Ellie and Michael's love story -- in two ways. For one thing, they were both working on 'Conan O'Brien' when they met (and after a sitcom saved Conan's career).

They began dating, but Ellie wasn't sure they were meant to be; she wanted to focus on her career, she later explained, and that led to the pair of them going on a break. They were still working at the same studio, though, which was a little bit strange.

Then, Michael called in sick to work, which led Conan to create a sketch where he visited the writer and checked to make sure he was really sick (and not missing work for some other reason). At that point, Ellie was a little concerned -- was Michael really sick?

That phone call to check up on her ex led to Kemper and Koman getting back together. In 2012, they got married, and that was that.

Michael Koman's Proposal Was Lackluster...

Though Ellie Kemper's love story -- and proposal -- weren't really the highlight of their relationship, she has few complaints. Meeting her three-years-younger husband on set while she was an "old intern" and he was a "young writer" was an OK love story.

Them being brought together by Conan O'Brien was kind of neat. And Michael's numerous attempts at proposing are something to laugh at now. The thing is, Kemper notes, none of that matters -- what matters is their solid marriage and how happy they are now.

Their relationship may not have started out magical or Hollywood-esque, but Kemper is fine with how it's turned out.
