On Thursday, the Sesame Street character “interrupted” a conversation between Cersei and Tyrion, who were, as always, in a disagreement over kingdom-related decisons. While they are busy trying to talk it out, Elmo, dressed in full armor, appears and asks the pair to respect each other.
"You can't ignore me forever. I only want what's best for Westeros," Tyrion says.
"And I only want for you to not get what you want," his sister snarls in response.
"You see? This is why you don't have any friends," Tyrion retorts.
Elmo comes in to save the day. He suggests that they each try to listen to what the other has to say.
"Elmo thinks that you two need to respect each other. When Elmo has a problem with his friends like Abby or Cookie Monster, Elmo doesn't get upset. Elmo listens and learns from what they have to say," he says.
Tyrion agrees that if the two join forces instead of fighting, they can be that much stronger, and Cersei reluctantly promises to "try."
"Oh, yay! Trying is a great way to start," Elmo exclaims. The Lannisters each raise a goblet to toast him — which reminds us that, if nothing else, they've got a similar appreciation for a good vintage — and Elmo is delighted. "Oh, yummy! Elmo loves toast!"
The unexpected crossover is just one part a new series of original videos dedicated to sharing the idea that "Respect Brings Us Together." The series also includes a rap video from Common that features Cersei in Muppet form. There's also a spin on the most memorable scene from another HBO drama, Westworld.
In "Respect World," Bernard and Dolores are back in that lab, discussing how hosts and humans can get along when Cookie Monster shows up to encourage the two to put aside their differences.
"Respect is important for everybody. People, monsters, even you, robot lady," he growls, trying to help bring peace between the two. And he does so using his beloved cookies!
