As we venture further into the future, robots seems to be doing more and more for us, but clearly in some cases that isn't necessarily a good thing.

Technology is advancing at an incredible pace in the present day. Judging by the trajectory over the past few years, those technological developments are only going to become more common and happen more frequently. One area that has been advancing faster and faster over the course of a number of decades is the field of robotics, and nowadays it feels as if there isn't anything that robots can't do.

Robots playing more of a prominent part in our every day lives is likely viewed in a number of different ways. Many likely find it fascinating and even promising, while it's safe to say that some find it quite scary. If you watch shows like Westworld then there's the fear that one day robots will turn on us. However, the much more real issue is the fact that they are performing tasks that humans can and are therefore putting people out of work.

While that is the case 99 times out of 100, there has recently been a case of the opposite. During the first quarter of 2018, Tesla had aimed to produce 2500 Model 3 vehicles a week. However, they did not meet that target. In three months time Tesla wants that number to have doubled to 5000 vehicles per week, so clearly something needs to change and Tesla's chief executive Elon Musk thinks he knows what the problem is...

As reported by The Guardian Musk admitted that the issue in the first quarter of 2018 has been "excessive automation". "We had this crazy, complex network of conveyor belts … And it was not working, so we got rid of that whole thing," Musk admitted. He also owned up to it being his idea and adding that "humans are underrated". Apparently they were failing to hit 2000 cars a week, but since the changes they have been hitting that number.

There you have it folks. Any of you that fear robots or aren't too keen on how much they are being used in the present day can chalk one up for the humans in this instance. Computers and machines doing everything for us might sound like the perfect life to some and seem like the way we are headed, but if what's going on at Tesla is anything to go by sometimes robots just can't match the hard work of the human race.
