Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have been married since 2010, but more than a decade ago, Emily wasn't too impressed with their first meeting. She called their initial encounter "lame," but things turned out well in the end.

So what was so terrible about Emily's first meeting with her future husband?

Emily Blunt Met John Krasinski Through Mutual Friends

In an interview, Emily Blunt recounted in detail how she first met her now-husband. Though John was already on 'The Office' (even if it wasn't for the role he originally wanted) when he had a chance meeting with his future wife, Emily said she didn't know who he was.

She'd sort of seen 'The Office,' but she was a bigger fan of the British version, she told Seth Meyers. So when she happened to run into John while out to dinner one evening, it wasn't like meeting her idol. Although, Emily did admit to bingeing all of the 'The Office' later and loving it.

Emily Doesn't Like To Tell The Story Of How She Met John

While a lot of celebrities have epic stories about their first meeting (or maybe just a fun story about swiping right or something), Emily cautioned Seth that hers was a "kind of a sad, lame story."

The actress elaborated that she was out to eat at a restaurant with a mutual friend of theirs, and John was there, too. Her dining companion said 'hey there's my friend John,' and Emily said, "that was it."

It might seem dull to Emily after more than ten years of being married to Krasinski, but she said of their first meeting, "He just stood there and made me laugh."

That doesn't sound half bad, right? Except for the fact that John kind of agreed with critics that Emily was out of his league.

There's A Bright Side To Their 'Lame' Meeting, Though

When Seth started prying, Emily admitted that the day she met John, she knew they'd end up together. So while their meet-cute maybe wasn't so Hollywood, things definitely turned out well.

But Emily also joked that the way they met would be the perfect cheesy romance plotline. After seeing her and John star in 'A Quiet Place,' though, a romantic comedy probably isn't going to go over so well.

John's just broken out of his one-track comedy lane, as Emily elaborated in the interview. He was nervous about how fans would receive his role in the thriller, but it seems to have turned out OK overall.

Just because their first meeting wasn't exactly a fairytale, at least Emily and John can still say they love being around each other -- enough to work together, at least -- more than a decade on. It's more than many celebs can say about their marriages...
