In her late-night interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Emma Stone remembered what kinds of movies she watched in her youth. She mentioned that her dad has always been a comedy fanatic, leading her to adore the same genre.

One hilarious 1987 film rises above the rest, according to Stone. We'll give a bit of a hint, it's a John Hughes classic.

Her Love For Comedies

"My dad is a very big 70s and 80s comedy fan," she told Kimmel, "We watched 'The Jerk' a lot, and then...we watched a lot of Steve Martin. Interchangeably we would watch 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' and 'Shawshank Redemption.'"

Well, we wouldn't consider Shawshank Redemption a film that makes us crack up. Her favorite amongst the list was Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Kimmel agreed that it always makes him tear up near the end.

Stone slowly nodded her head in serious understanding of Kimmel's connection to Martin and Candy, "That's one of the greatest movies of all time. That combination of funny and heartbreaking is like, perfect in that movie."

The host then asked Stone if she's met Steve Martin during her thriving career. She admitted that she has, but never told him that she's been a lifelong fan of his work.

We'd expect her to avoid the "play it cool" act. We guess you never know how you're going to react to being considered an equal to one of your heroes, networking in the same room.

Too Cool For Steve Martin

Kimmel also reacted surprised to hear that Stone decided to play it cool, and asked if she thought it ever went over well to pretend that she wasn't familiar with famous actors. Of course, she knows who Steve Martin is, did she phrase it as a joke or seriously hide that she knew him?

The Cruella star clarified, "I do not very often play it cool but I think I've tried to keep it semi-cool in front of Steve Martin. I've cried in front of multiple other people and it's got to stop."

So does she act nonchalantly or bawl her eyes out? It sounded like she caught her foot before it landed close to her mouth. She assured Kimmel that she respects actresses and actors whom she's looked up to when dreaming of working in Hollywood.

She even name-dropped a few of the A-listers that she's cried in front of, including Dianne Keaton and Bill Murray. These are probably the least stuck-up examples who would be fine with wiping away a tear or two.
