Enchanted is the stunning Disney movie that takes an animated princess and places her in the real world. Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) is banished from her home, the kingdom of Andalasia, by Queen Narissa, and is transported to the real world, where she doesn't really fit into the gritty reality of New York City, which seems miles away from the world of 'happily ever after' found in most Disney animated movies.

In the real world, Giselle meets a lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) and ends up falling for him. Enchanted was released in 2007 and now, fifteen years later, the sequel that Enchanted fans have been waiting for is almost here.

Disenchanted is set to be released in 2022 on Disney+, with the first official trailer expected to drop towards the end of the year. The highly anticipated sequel will follow Princess Giselle, her husband Robert Philip, his teen daughter Morgan and a new addition to the family, showing what happened to Princess Giselle after she got her 'happily ever after'.

But of course, Disenchanted promises new problems, including a new villain on the horizon, played by hilarious Saturday Night Live actress Maya Rudolph.

What's 'Disenchanted' About?

Disenchanted is set ten years after happily ever after. Giselle and her family have moved from New York and live in the suburbs, and she is not fully content with her life, wishing it was more of a perfect fairytale. This wish comes true, turning Giselle's life upside down and affecting Andalasia. Giselle must save her family and break the spell before midnight — just as is expected of a good old-fashioned Disney princess movie.

There will be new faces in the movie, but the four main cast members will be returning to resume their roles. This includes Amy Adams (The Woman In The Window), Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel, and James Marsden.

What Are Fans Hoping To See In 'Disenchanted'?

There are high expectations for the sequel that fans have been waiting fifteen years for. It's expected that Disenchanted will be a mix of animated and live-action like Enchanted was, leaving fans hoping for more similarities between the two movies. Fans are also excited to see Giselle and Robert's baby after an image was released of Amy Adams dressed as her character and pushing a pram.

What is known about the Enchanted sequel so far is very limited, as very few details have been released. But after it was revealed by Amy Adams in an interview with Jimmy Fallon that there was more singing and dancing in Disenchanted, fans started to hope for one thing — to have Idina Menzel singing in the sequel.

"Yeah, 15 years later, we did the Enchanted sequel with Amy Adams and Patrick and Idina Menzel, and Idina actually gets to sing this time," Patrick said in an interview with Screen Rant. "The first time, she was in a movie musical and did not sing. I don't understand that. But this time, Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz wrote all-new original music for the sequel. I think people are going to be very pleased when that comes out."
