The WWE may have booking issues, but it has been the epitome of professional wrestling for decades. Many believe that the WWE is a global powerhouse because of Vince McMahon, and he certainly deserves a lot of the credit, but he did not do it all by himself.

Vince may have the vision, but the wrestlers are the ones who actually have to go out and perform, and if they are unable to entertain the fans on a consistent basis, your promotion will not survive long. Luckly, Vince was able to develop wrestlers like Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and John Cena, all of whom carried a specific era on their shoulders.

WWE tries to sign superstars with real wrestling backgrounds, but the company has never shied away from signing athletes from other sports like football and mixed martial arts, and it looks like they are now looking to sign someone from the NBA.

Enes Is An NBA Player And An Avid Wrestling Fan

Enes Kanter started his NBA career back in 2011 when the Utah Jazz drafted him third overall, and he remained with the team until they traded him to Oklahoma City in 2015. He later went on to play for the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers, and after signing with them last summer, he is now a proud member of the Boston Celtics.

When players change teams as frequently as Kanter has, it usually means that they are not performing well, but the Turkish center has put up consistent numbers throughout his career. So far Kanter has averaged 11.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game as a bench player.

Oddly enough, it turns out that Enes is a WWE superfan and on September 9, he became the promotion's 44th 24/7 Champion when he defeated R-Truth during a cross-promotional event with NBC Sports Boston. This title change took place on an episode of WWE Main Event, but he ended up losing the title back to Truth shortly after.

An Open Offer

Kanter's title reign may have been extremely brief, but it looks like he left a lasting impression with WWE executives, because the company has since offered him a contract. Ringside News was able to confirm this story thanks to an interview that Kanter gave.

In the interview, Kanter said that the WWE offered him an open door deal, which means that he can join the company whenever he is ready to step off the court for good. Kanter, who is 27, went on to say that he will definitely become a WWE superstar one day, and it may happen as early as next year when his current contract expires.
