Recently, Eva Mendes announced that she would be taking some time off of social media to focus on her two daughters, whom she shares with actor Ryan Gosling. A few Instagram users, however, believed the starlet was lying, and that she actually stepped away from posting selfies because she recently underwent plastic surgery.

Last weekend, Mendes shared that she would be absent on the social networking service after her daughter told her she was "on the phone too much," adding, "I could tell she was taking it personally."

The actress returned to Instagram this Saturday to wish a friend a happy birthday but received an unpleasant comment under her post when a user accused her of getting "work done" after someone asked the actress why she was posting less content on her page.

The user's comment, which has since been deleted, read, "She's had work done and I don't think she's happy with it...she was beautiful without."

Mendes clapped back at the user to clarify why she was taking time off from her Instagram, writing, "I'm not sure why I'm answering you but here I go. I'm posting less because I really want to be present for my family. My little ones need me and posting takes up too much time."

She added, "As far as getting work done, I'll do that whenever I please. But no, that's not the reason. The reason is I personally cannot juggle family and social media. So - big shocker - I choose family."

Mendes has also been taking time off from acting since having her two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada Lee. The brunette beauty hasn't been in a movie since 2014's Lost River, which was directed by Ryan Gosling. Her main priority, it seems, is raising her family with him.
