For many performers, being attached to a popular television show is a great way to gain some name recognition and to make a mint while doing so. As we saw with Jennifer Aniston and Friends or with Joe Rogan and Fear Factor, television can be a great platform for performers to make it big in the entertainment industry and to set themselves up for future projects.
During his time on Breaking Bad, Aaron Paul was nothing short of brilliant as the character Jesse Pinkman. Once that show came to an end, however, people were incredibly curious to see what the actor was going to do next. After all, Breaking Bad is considered one of the greatest television shows ever made.
Let’s see what Aaron Paul has been up to since Breaking Bad!
He Starred In Need For Speed
With Breaking Bad under his belt, it goes without saying that Aaron Paul was a hot commodity in the business. This meant that studios were more than happy to cast him as a lead in a large project that he could potentially catapult to the top of the box office. As such, it shouldn’t be too surprising that Paul was cast as the lead character in the film Need for Speed, per IMDb.
Need for Speed was a film that was looking to do something that few video game films before it couldn’t do: not stink. Throughout history, most video game adaptations have been pretty bad, which has done them no favors in the public eye. So, when it was announced that Aaron Paul was going to be the lead in a Need for Speed movie, there was some optimism from fans.
Turns out, this movie was nothing special, as it wound up being blasted by critics. Yes, it did some decent numbers at the box office, but it was nothing that would inspire a new franchise of films being made.
Outside of Need for Speed, Paul has also taken part in a number of other projects. According to IMDb, he has also appeared in movies like Exodus: Gods and Kings, Central Intelligence, and A Long Way Down since Breaking Bad ended. Those are some of his larger projects, but a quick look at the films that he appeared in will show that may of them were much smaller flicks.
Even though Aaron Paul has had quite a lot of work in film since Breaking Bad closed things down, he has also been back on television.
He Was A Lead On BoJack Horseman
One major thing we see in the business is that actors who take on huge television roles can sometimes struggle to find success on other shows later on down the line. Thankfully, Aaron Paul has been able to shake this stigma with his successful voice acting stint on the animated series BoJack Horseman.
Back in 2014, the year following the end of Breaking Bad, BoJack Horseman would make its debut on the small screen, and it had been a fixture until its 6th and final season. On the show, Aaron Paul was the voice of the character Todd Chavez. He would go on to appear in all 77 episodes of the show, according to IMDb. Even though it has come to an end, the series received a ton of acclaim and maintains its legion of fans.
Not only was Paul featured on BoJack Horseman, but he would also go on to have plenty of other roles over the years. According to IMDb, Paul has also taken part in The Path, Black Mirror, Truth Be Told, and Westworld. That is quite an impressive list of shows, and it proves that Paul is a hot commodity after all these years.
While all of this has been great, the truth is that Jesse Pinkman will always be Paul’s most iconic character. Turns out, there was a little more story left to tell for this character.
He Was Jesse Pinkman Once Again In El Camino
Breaking Bad fans have been pretty spoiled over the years, as they not only got a great series in the original, but they also got a great spin-off in Better Call Saul. However, there were still some questions that needed to be answered, and El Camino sought to answer some of them.
Needless to say, the anticipation for Aaron Paul to play Jesse Pinkman once again was palpable, as most fans just assumed that things were finished for good. Netflix would be the lucky ones to get the film, though it eventually made its way to AMC down the line.
El Camino did a lot in the way of pleasing fans of the show, and many were happy with what it was able to bring to the table. Not only that, but it was great seeing this iconic character make an appearance again.
As you can see, Aaron Paul has been incredibly busy ever since Breaking Bad finished its legendary run on the small screen.
