Every once in a while, a show can come along and make a name for itself by being unique and not being afraid to take chances. Shows like The Office, Friends, and Netflix Originals like Orange is the New Black may get a ton of attention at all times, but there have been tons of other shows that have found success and have seemingly flown under the radar at the same time.
Workaholics was such a hilarious series that should have been even bigger than it was. Adam DeVine was one of the three leads on the show, and he was able to flex his comedic talent on the show each episode.
Since Workaholics came to an end, Adam has been exceptionally busy.
Let’s see what he has been up to over the years!
Updated September 2023: Since 'Workaholics' ended, Adam DeVine has stayed plenty busy both professionally and personally.
DeVine has been in no less than 20 projects on the big and small screens in the last several years. This includes his talents as a comedic actor as well as a now-accomplished voice actor as well. DeVine's most recent project, 'The Righteous Gemstones' was renewed for a fourth season on HBO as of August 2023.
During this time, DeVine has also continued his work as a writer and producer on the shows that he works on.
Additionally, DeVine and his long-time girlfriend, Chloe Bridges got married in 2021. The two met in 2014 while working on 'The Final Girls' and have shared an uncomfortably heartwarming relationship since then.
Adam DeVine Voiced The Flash In The Lego Batman Movie
DeVine truly became a household name by taking part in Workaholics on the small screen, but he has done quite well for himself on the big screen over the years. In one of his coolest projects to date, DeVine was able to land the role of the Flash in The Lego Batman Movie.
The Flash didn’t have a huge role in the movie, but it was still a great achievement for DeVine, who had been putting in work for years at that point. Voicing a classic superhero is something that people cannot take away, and DeVine can always lay claim to voicing the iconic Scarlet Speedster.
Of course, we simply cannot talk about DeVine’s big screen works without mentioning his time in the Pitch Perfect franchise. In the movies, DeVine played the character Bumper. This gave him the chance to show how funny he can be while the cameras were rolling and a chance to show off his singing, as well. People were pretty surprised to hear how good he is behind the mic.
DeVine would appear in the first two Pitch Perfect films, and each of them wound up being a success at the box office. It not only gave him some solid film credits, but it also showed people that he was capable of a lot more than just appearing on Workaholics.
Adam DeVine Starred In Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates
Thanks to the success of the Pitch Perfect films, DeVine was able to start landing larger roles in other movies. Back in 2016, the actor would star in the film Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates alongside Zac Efron.
The film was a modest success at the box office, and while it may not have been a huge blockbuster, it was still funny in its own right. DeVine and Efron had excellent chemistry, and they worked well with Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick in the movie.
That same year, DeVine would appear in the film Why Him? with James Franco and Bryan Cranston. It was more of a secondary role, but that didn’t stop him from having a few funny moments while on screen.
Around the same time, DeVine landed roles in several other projects. Those projects include:
Ice Age: Collision Course (Film) |
2016 |
Role: Julian (voice) |
The Intern (Film) |
2015 |
Role: Jason |
Drunk History (TV Show) |
2015 |
Role: Pavel Belyayev |
With The Intern, Ice Age: Collision Course, and Drunk History, DeVine brought his unique brand of humor to each role. Specifically, Ice Age was a good example of what DeVine can do in a voice-acting role, and it would lead to him landing a prominent voice-acting gig on Netflix.
Adam DeVine Plays Sam-I-Am On Green Eggs And Ham
The works of Dr. Seuss have been adapted a number of times to a mixed degree of success. DeVine's Green Eggs and Ham was a success.
The project debuted back in 2019, and it wound up finding an audience in no time. In fact, the series was confirmed for a second season on Netflix, but was not renewed for a third.
DeVine is the voice of the character Sam-I-Am on the show, meaning that he is voicing another iconic character. Opportunities like this don’t come around often, and it’s great to see that DeVine has been making the most of his.
