Diamonté Harper, known to the world by her stage name, Saweetie, has been rising to fame at a ridiculously fast pace. She started writing at the age of 13, and then kept her skills a secret, even from her family, as she began to explore her musical talents. As she pursued her post secondary education, she remained vigilant about posting her rap videos on Instagram, and one day, her skills were noticed.

With a larger audience at her fingertips, Saweetie's success quickly launched into superstardom.  Her hit songs My Type and Tap In, took her to new heights, and she now sits comfortably with a net worth of $4 million.

Forbes references Saweetie as being someone with her sights set very high, and she clearly has a vision that far exceeds the level of success she has already attained.

6 College Prepared Her For Success

Saweetie credits the bulk of her success to her devotion to higher education. She continues to grow under the influence of her grandmother, who has always pushed for education to be on the forefront of future planning. Saweetie attended the San Diego State University as well as University of Southern California, and says that college taught her "how to think." She went on to say; "It taught me how to be an adult. It taught me to be accountable for the good, the bad, the ugly, the success."

5 The Pandemic Allowed Her To Be Creative

The pandemic may have proven to be a stumbling point for many other artists, but for Saweetie, it was a refreshing time for her to re-energize and re-structure. It enabled her to step back from the performances and dig deeper into her actual vision and business plan.

She admits to being a homebody and credits the pandemic for allowing her a greater opportunity to immerse herself in creativity. She says, "It gave me the chance to get back to my creative roots. Through content and creativity we were able to make the brand bigger."

She's Building A Future, Not Just A Career

Many artists throw themselves into the moment to ride the wave of success as it comes, and they're satisfied dipping into the shadows to live off their instant fame for years to come. Saweetie, however, is here to stay. She has long-term goals that far surpass this immediate success she has already achieved and states that she wants her Icy brand to live longer than she will.

She is quoted as saying, "My goal is to create a strong business foundation—not something that’s just for clout or publicity—but a working machine that will last for decades to come. I want my great grandkids running the Icy business."

4 She Has Found Great Success In Endorsements

The path to Saweetie's success has largely been formed by her ability to excel within endorsement campaigns. When asked what the most successful part of her business has been so far, she responded by saying that the partnerships she has established are among the most lucrative for her. She greatly enjoys creating the musical components for other brands, and says that this has been a successful way that she's been able to "blend music, fashion, and beauty."  She enjoys creating music for campaign ads and endorsement deals.

3 There's Focus On Female Empowerment

Her grandmother has played a huge role in Saweetie's upbringing and has inspired her to keep her focus on female empowerment. She says that networking and really building her own community has been critically important to her. She went on to say, "As women, we’re shielded, but I think it’s important for women to network and make a name for themselves by forming their own personal relationships. That’s something I learned this past year, and that’s why I love talking to the owners of brands I’m doing partnerships with. I’m a very direct person."

2 Success Isn't Hinged On Outward Beauty

Teen Vogue reports that Saweeti has drawn inspiration from the late, great, icon Tupac Shakur’s acronym for "THUG LIFE (The Hate U Give Little Infants F**ks Everyone),"and credits this for making her strong and tough. She wants to relay the message to fans that her success is not based on her outward appearance, and that "pretty" is something that is far deeper than face value. She takes pride in being the "boss" and thrives in moments which depict her as being tough, independent, and fun.

1 She Has Maintained Her Moral Standing

The world of entertainment has not always treated women with the utmost respect that they so richly deserve. Quite the contrary, many female entertainers have been taken advantage of, and Saweetie has hinted that her life has been tainted by those efforts. She did not give in to the temptation of elevating her career dramatically, but has been vocal about the fact that she has been offered questionable offers that she has turned down, in favor of the upkeep of her morality.

She says; “When you are a young woman in L.A., sometimes you're put in situations that can help you financially but will take a jab at your soul, your body. I remember basically just having the opportunity to get some money, but in doing so I would have violated my morals and my values. I was broke but I was like, I will never do anything to disrespect myself... no matter how desperate I get."  Her path to success has been based on her integrity and true talents.
