Seeing that their characters are always at odds, it is only fitting to assume that Hemsworth and Hiddleston might not always get along in real life. But is that really the case for these two? Read on to find out! From their first meeting to sharing the spotlight with Idris Elba, here is a rundown of everything we know about Hemsworth and Hiddleston when they are not playing warring brothers.

7 They Met In 2009

Liam and Tom first met in 2009 at filmmaker Kenneth Branagh's house in England after being cast for the first Thor movie. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the film's release, Hemsworth shared a throwback photo of himself and Hiddleston reading their scripts on their first meeting. In the picture, the actors were clad in green and red outfits, respectively, referencing the color of their costumes in the movie. Speaking about the post during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Hiddleston said:

"It was interesting 'coz we just met. Chris was Thor and I was Loki and [director] Kenneth Branagh had an idea. I think he went into an old wardrobe. He pulled out these colors because Thor's cape was red and Loki's cape was green. I think those costumes were from his movies of Henry V and Hamlet."

6 They Are Best Friends In Real Life

Hemsworth and Hiddleston may portray feuding brothers Thor and Loki on screen, but these two are actually pretty close in real life. Probably close enough to be called best friends. During an interview, Hemsworth admitted that his and Hiddleston's bond was strengthened by the fact that they came into the film industry right about the same time. The actor also noted that their shared enthusiasm for movies like Thor also made filming all the more fun. "You either have chemistry with someone or you don’t and, thankfully, it was there," Hemsworth said.

5 And Are Very Supportive Of Each Other

In 2015, Hemsworth recorded two major milestones—he hosted Saturday Night Live and joined Twitter. Hiddleston met his co-star's achievements with nothing but love and support. He tweeted at the time, "My goodness. My brother from another mother. Ladies and gentlemen: @chrishemsworth". Also, in 2013, Hemsworth proudly declared himself a Hiddlestoner when he admitted to being the leading fan of his co-star's fanbase.

4 They Love To Cuddle...Sometimes

Some might be irked by the idea of snuggling up to their co-stars or even friends, but not Hiddleston and Hemsworth. These two go for it without a care in the world. In 2017, Avengers star Mark Ruffalo, otherwise known as "The Hulk," shared a photo showing himself, Hemsworth and Hiddleston cuddled up while sleeping on a plane. Speaking on this, Hemsworth said:

“There’s no shortage of love in this cast. What there is, is a shortage of space on the plane, so, you know, if you’re doing 24-hour days and traveling the world, you kind of get it where you can… sleep, that is. And cuddles. I don’t mind [if I’m the cuddler or cuddlee]."

3 But They Also Fight

Hemsworth once hit Hiddleston, and apparently, he asked for it. In 2019, Hiddleston recounted being hit by Hemsworth while filming the 2012 superhero movie The Avengers. The actor explained that they were trying to get a good fighting scene with some choreographed moves, but it was not turning out quite right. He then asked Hemsworth to hit him in the face for real. The result? Hiddleston went rolling down like a stone. But in the end, it was undoubtedly for the best because, if anything, these two make sibling fights look a lot more appealing than we could have ever imagined!

2 There Was A Third Wheel For A While

Hiddleston and Hemsworth might be thick as thieves, but occasionally, they make room for others to experience their beautiful bond. The co-stars once shared their friendship with Idris Elba, and together, the trio gave Hollywood one of its most hilarious award acceptance speeches of 2016.

While accepting his Best Actor TV Choice Award for his role in The Night Manager, Hiddleston was infamously interrupted by Hemsworth, who joked about the award being for Home and Away, an Australian soap opera he starred in back in the day. Soon after, Elba popped up, asking why his British crime series, Luther, did not get a nomination. Shortly after, the three actors made headlines, with fans swooning over the evident love between Hiddleston, Hemsworth, and their newfound friend, Elba.

1 They Are Literally Brothers

We might think of Hiddleston and Hemsworth as just best friends, but they have revealed themselves to be more than that. In other news, these two went from co-stars to best friend and thenbrothers. At the premiere of Thor: The Dark World, Hemsworth joked that Hiddleston had been adopted into his family. Hiddleston, on the other hand, dubbed himself the runt of the brood, but Hemsworth couldn't disagree more. To him, his famous costar is as Hemsworth as being a Hemsworth can get.
