Kourtney Kardashian, one of the sisterly stars on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, has found herself in surprise romances time and time again. Casually “hanging out” with people is tantamount in this day and age to dating them, which makes it tricky to differentiate between a star’s BFFs and her BAEs. We’re sure it comes as a surprise to many celebrities that they find out they’re dating someone through a celebrity news magazine. A question gets popped in an interview and all of a sudden they’re made aware that they’re dating. This is kind of what happened with Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker. Though, we’re getting ahead of ourselves; and there’s more to the story than we think, anyway. Let’s take a look at the details of their maybe-kind-of-sort-of relationship.
Kourtney Kardashian has been linked to a number of men, from Justin Bieber to (most famously) Scott Disick. While several of them haven’t lasted as long as she’d probably like, it’s only natural that the love comes and goes (plus, it provides endless entertainment to speculate about who might be next). Her love life has had many ups and downs, but hey, we can’t judge; ours is just as bad, and none of them have ever even been famous. If given half a chance we’d totally link up with all of these famous guys too, especially Travis Barker. Although, did Kardashian and Barker ever actually link up? Or were they just close friends? This is the big question on everybody’s mind, and we decided to figure it out. In a world that tells you that straight men and women can’t be friends, it would be nice to find a platonic couple that proves that fact wrong. Could Barker and Kardashian be it?
They’re Very Close
One of the biggest clues that tipped people off that they might be dating was their frequent appearances out in public together. It might be more convenience than connection, though, as “Barker and Kardashian have lived in the same neighborhood for years and are frequently spotted stepping out together. Most recently, the pair were seen grabbing dinner with their children at Nobu Malibu last month,” which is where the whole dating speculation rumor really started. It isn’t just the fact that they seem to be close on a personal level, though. Their kids are also friends, which gives everyone images of blended families and being BFFs with their step-siblings. It could just be a sign that growing up in the same neighborhood close together means that they all played together, just like regular kids do. That fact would certainly place their relationship firmly in the “parent friends” camp, rather than the “secret love tryst” camp, in our opinion.
We’d like to point out, though, that it wouldn’t have been the first time that Kourtney Kardashian was caught casually hanging out with someone and was later found to be romantically involved with them. Back in 2015, there were whispers that Kourtney Kardashian and Justin Bieber were spending a lot of time together. Originally mutual friends and insider sources were saying that they were just friends, but as time went on we began to realize that there was a little more than just platonic love going on between them; they were intimately involved! We’re not saying that that’s what’s going on with Travis Barker. Rather, we’re just pointing out the similarities to the situation.
He Does Love Her, Though
It doesn’t mean there’s no love, though! Quite the opposite, in fact. Barker is clear that, although he’s not dating Kourtney Kardashian, he does love her. He’s been on record as saying “Kourtney’s like a dear friend. That’s it… I mean, I love her to death. I love her family to death. But yeah, just friends,” really emphasizing the fact that they’re strictly platonic. Honestly, we’re pretty sure that he’s being honest with this one. He’s a busy dad and Kourtney Kardashian is a very busy mom. It’s probably just convenient for them to have their kids hanging out together while getting in some grown-up conversation time together. That’s what happens when two families grow up beside each other, after all.
We hate to disappoint, but it seems like their fling was less romantic than it was platonic. Friendship instead of flirtation, and mostly connected with their kids. They’re compatible friends because of their history; Kourtney is on a reality tv show, and Barker also had a stint where he was starring in a family-based reality show as well. It’s probably for the best that they don’t try to merge their worlds. Barker has been through a lot, and Kourtney’s go-go-go lifestyle is likely not going to give him the peace and low-key quiet he wants nowadays. Oh well! The families have big love for each other, making it a relationship that we hope Kourtney keeps up with despite other romances.
