As Vulture reported last week, James Jefferson Jr is the newly crowned champion of The Circle and the recipient of a cool $100k. The question on many fans' lips now is, what's next for the comedian-come-Netflix-star, and how is he planning on spending that cash prize?

TheThings caught up with him to hear all about his plans for those winnings - but it turns out, his response is different than many would anticipate.

James Just Won $100k...Now What?

For most people, the very thought of winning $100k is enough to leave them salivating. However, James chuckles that, because of where he lives, that wouldn't exactly qualify him as a one percenter.

"I live in LA, so that's, like, 4 months of rent, to be honest," he jokes.

Taking The Win Seriously

All jokes aside, James is anything but flippant about what his prize money will mean for his family.

In fact, he's made a point of sticking with his primary intention to use the money to change his family's financial situation, even amidst the adrenaline of winning the show.

As he told Parade, this $100k is just the beginning of bigger things to come.

"I don't want to be foolish with this," he explains.

"I want to manage the money correctly so I can keep building on top of it. I want that $100k to turn into $1million, [and] I want that million to turn into $10million."

Making A New Start

Elaborating on why it's so important for him to manage his winnings the right way, James elaborates that he "grew up in a rough neighborhood."

As such, he adds that he was on the receiving end of "all the cop situations."

While James is also quick to add, smug smile in tow, that he always "looked good" regardless of the environment he grew up in, he's determined to give back to his family, and has been since joining the show.

Luckily, winning The Circle has put him in the prime position to do just that.

In light of that, it should come as no surprise that when James details where some of his sweepstakes have been channeled thus far, he names his grandmother as one of his beneficiaries.

"I helped her out with a few things," he smiles.

However, He Has Made Some Other Splurges, Too

Even though, like his predecessor Joey Sasso, this The Circle winner is being cautious with his newly acquired net worth, James has made a pretty exciting purchase - and we're not referring to the "very modest car" he purchased.

James is the recent patron of a jeweler's services.

However, don't expect to see him rocking a fancy chain any time soon. That's because this purchase wasn't aimed at fulfilling his own accessorizing needs.

"I bought my fiance a very nice ring," he beams.

Let it be known that this is not just any 'nice' ring. Rather, James continues, grinning, "[it's] like a Queen of England type ring." For anyone still doubtful of just how spectacular the sparkler is, James adds, in mock seriousness, "like, Queen Elizabeth."

That aside, James is adamant that a gorgeous diamond and the impending nuptials won't steer him from his path of managing those winnings the right way, and he jokes that the full wedding will need to come in at "under $600."

While we're sure James will be swayed on that particular savings plan, it's clear that he's a man on a mission - and we love to see it!
