Family Dog Fakes Being A Stray For Free Burgers Outside McDonald’s

An adorable Oklahoma City pooch named Princess has devised an impressive scam that is earning her free meals at her local McDonald's, and this is driving her human absolutely crazy!

According to Betsy Reyes, the dog's owner, the cunning canine slips out of her house every night and makes her way to a nearby McDonald’s. Once near the drive-through, Princess pretends to be a stray dog to guilt customers into giving her food. Reyes adds that such behavior has become routine for the pet.

In a crude and hilarious Facebook post, Betsy Reyes shamed Princess for her fraudulent behavior. She acts "like she’s a stray so people will feel bad for her & feed her burgers,” Reyes wrote in the post, which has since gone viral, with more than 290,000 reactions and 270,000 shares as of Thursday afternoon.

According to Time, Reyes caught the dog red-handed (or is it red-pawed?) when she drove to McDonald’s and photographed and filmed her taking food from drive-thru customers. The dog approached her car, but when she saw her owner was behind the wheel, she moved on to another car in search of food. In one video, a passenger in a car can be seen throwing some food to the dog as she begs at their window.

Animal behaviorist Corey Cohen could not help but laugh when he heard about the scheming pooch. “It shows that dogs are far more intelligent and their behavior is more complex than simple ‘stimulus/response,’” said Cohen, who is based in northeastern Pennsylvania. He adds that we need to treat them like friends and certainly not like machines.
