Family Guy has been on for a staggering 17 seasons, and it’s the fans who have really made it to be the success that it is. After getting cancelled back in 2002 after only three seasons, the show was brought back in 2005 after high DVD sales proved there was a fan demand. Since then, the show has done well for itself – and it has the fan art to prove it!

With so many characters to choose from, fans have redesigned, reimagined, and reinterpreted their favorites in new artistic styles, new outfits, new features, and more! Family Guy itself has put its characters into different scenarios that saw them completely redesigned, and these 20 examples are simply the fans paying homage to that level of creativity and ingenuity. These are just some of our personal favorites.

20 My Little Family Guy Pony

Via KnowYourMeme

Family Guy revels in its weirdness and My Little Pony, despite being a children’s TV show, has become strangely popular among the older adult male crowd. So, naturally, DeviantArt user SpaceBoy969 mashed the two up in what makes for s weirdly cute interpretation! The details among the PonyGriffins are pretty impressive!

19 This Individual Stewie

Via DeMilked

As part of the #StyleChallenge that swept social media, encouraging artists to reimagine their favorite cartoon characters in their own unique style, NYC-based artist Elena Manetta decided on a one-two punch: drawing the beloved cartoons as they are originally, and in her own way, like this Stewie Griffin with a decidedly more proportionate head.

18 This Realistic Peter

Via Twitter

Cartoon characters are meant to have exaggerated features, which is why it can be so disconcerting to see them redesigned in a way that makes them more realistic, with their disproportionate looks on full display. Take this Peter Griffin, for example. While he’s become three-dimensional, the artist still kept his tiny ears, oversized chin, and bulbous nose!

17 This More Maternal Lois

Via DeviantArt

Time and again, Family Guy has shown us that Lois, despite being a mother, is not the most maternal of characters (especially when it comes to her daughter Meg). Artist Katherina Tzima decided on a more classic “Mom” look in her redesign, which depicts a much more gentle and loving mother than the Seth MacFarlane incarnation we’re used to.

16 These Anime Griffins

Via DeviantArt

Transforming beloved cartoon characters into anime or manga forms seems par for the course for those who do fan art, but that doesn’t make it any less impressive! Artist Kurumi-Lover primarily works in this medium and, while Family Guy has given us many opportunities to see the gang in different worlds, we can’t help but wonder how this one might turn out!

15 This Rapping Stewie

Via Deskgram

Reimagining childhood cartoon characters in different styles is cool, but we also love when artists take a beloved character and make them into someone completely different while staying true to the original design. Take artist Zhi-Yun Zang, for example. In addition to this Stewie as A$AP Rocky, he also made Cartman into DJ Khaled, Goofy into 2 Chainz, and Milhouse into Drake!

14 This Meg Sketch

Via Fanpop

Meg is the one who bears the brunt of her family’s neglect or outright hostility. She’s constantly teased and insulted, and in a recent episode, creator Seth MacFarlane even admitted that he’s been a bit unfair to Meg. That’s why it’s so nice to see this beautifully rendered pencil sketch of Meg as she might be in real life: a cute, normal teenage girl.

13 This Race-Swapped Version

Via BoredPanda

Artist Tyron Handy is famous for offering more representation to the beloved kids’ cartoons he grew up with, and Family Guy is no exception. In this race-swapped version, we get to see what the Griffins would look like if they weren’t the white family we know them to be.

Handy has also done more stellar swaps with TV shows like Hey, Arnold! (retitled Hey, Andre!) and The PowerPuff Girls!

12 This Lanky Family

Via DeviantArt

The Griffins aren’t exactly known for having stellar physiques. As a rule, they tend to be on the shorter, stouter side of things. Artist Clarissa Henson decided to reimagine them as something akin to supermodels! If they weren’t wearing their signature outfits (and we didn’t know any better), there’s no way we’d be mistaking this group for the loud-mouthed family from Rhode Island!

11 This Glimpse Into The Future

Via DeviantArt

In the 10th season episode “Meg and Quagmire”, we get to see an 18-year-old Meg finally be wooed by someone – even if it is her dad’s creepy friend. This fan art takes that storyline a step further and imagines what life would be like if Meg and Quagmire had fallen in love, started a life together, and even had a child!

10 This Cute Lois And Meg Combo

Via ArtStation

Meg and Lois have hardly the ideal mother-daughter relationship, and Meg has blasted Lois for as much in the episode “Seahorse Seashell Party”. Fortunately, this cute piece of fan art allows us to imagine these Griffin women as a pair who are a lot closer to one another, without Meg being the brunt of the jokes and Lois as her nagging mother.

9 This Marvel Mashup

Via Pinterest

Marvel geeks meet Family Guy geeks in this too-cool cartoon mashup. While the artist has kept the original designs of the characters, he’s swapped out their usual outfits for something a little more heroic: Brian as Iron Man, Lois as She-Hulk, Peter as Captain America, Stewie as Deadpool, Chris as The Human Torch, and Meg as Scarlet Witch.

8 This Creepy Us Homage

Via Twitter

Another interpretation form artist Tyron Handy, we have the Griffins race-swapped and transformed into different characters – this time, it’s the creepy Tethered family from Jordan Peele’s Us! An incredibly creepy group, even when rendered in 2D and replaced with the Family Guy fam, Handy’s work is something that might haunt our dreams.

7 This More Realistic Cartoon

Via Fanpop

While the look of the Family Guy characters is simplistic, it’s still pretty iconic and easy to identify. This version (by DeviantArt user Boramy) is a lot more detailed, but looks more like a family-friendly cartoon rather than the risqué nature of the show we know and love. It’s a pretty great look at the Griffins, though!

6 This Cartoon-Real Life Hybrid

Via Reddit

The cool thing about this design isn’t just that the Griffins have been made to look a lot more realistic, thanks to complex shading and intricate detail, but that the artist still kept their original designs in the form of the family photos hanging on the wall! While Meg is more bottom-heavy here than usual, and Brian doesn’t look quite so talkative, we still love it!

5 This Gorgeous Pencil Drawing

Via Pinterest

Looking like something out a children’s book, this artist relied on colored pencils to create an image of the Griffins unlike anything we’ve ever seen before! All the details are there without the family looking too much like cartoons, and Stewie is fortunately relieved of his football-shaped head, which would look more like a deformity if done in this style.

4 This Hipster Version

Via Twitter

Trading in the rounded shapes and bulbous features of the usual Family Guy crew for something a lot more streamlined, this artist took things one step further by transforming the raunchy Griffins into a family that’s cooler, sleeker, and much more attractive than the originals! The addition of some thick-rimmed glasses, jewelry, and abs makes for a family as unlike the Griffins as is possible to be!

3 This Cool Vintage Vibe

Via Taringa

Easily one of our all-time favorites for Family Guy fan art, this redesign wouldn’t look out of place on a tin sign hanging up in an old school bar! We love how some supporting characters are shown in a style that is so unique but still clear on whom it represents. And the details – just check out that tiny “Patriot Pale Ale” on each of the bottles!

2 This Disney Homage

Via Pinterest

In the episode “Road to the Multiverse”, Stewie and Brian found themselves in a ton of different worlds, including this one that saw them transformed into Disney characters. It was an episode that inspired a lot of fan art, including this one, which allows us to see almost all of the characters from the segment in their full Disney glory.

1 This Scary Stewie

Via DeviantArt

Artist pixeloo has done a few iterations of transforming cartoon characters into their real-life versions – usually with terrifying results. This “real-life” Stewie is no exception, as the waxy texture of his skin and his bulbous eyes look like the stuff nightmares are made of! Whatever this Stewie version is planning, we don’t want any part of it!
