We understand that this is just the structure of episodic cartoons like Family Guy— the show is hardly unique in this manner, but when you consider all the insane things that happen in their relationship, this is probably the strangest element to the marriage.

15 They Get Into Physical Fights Quite Regularly

A lover's squabble every now and then is hardly a big deal. After all, relationships are often very passionate, and strong emotions come out all the time, but over the years, it seems like Lois and Peter's fights have been getting more and more intense. What started as some innocent bickering and arguing has now evolved into fully-fledged brawls and altercations.

We all know that Quagmire is a huge flirt. In fact, he's probably the biggest flirt on the entire show. He seemingly has no limits, even when it comes to females that are clearly off limits. We also know that Lois is considered to be an extremely beautiful woman within the context of the show, and she's often the object of male attention.

Even so, it's surprising that Quagmire has the audacity to flirt with Lois so often. After all, he's supposed to be friends with Peter. At one point, Quagmire even reveals that he loves Lois! Clearly, there's a lot of tension between these two, and Peter isn't too happy about it.

13 Lois Once Tried To Hit On Justin Bieber

Throughout the show, we're constantly reminded that Lois is anything but a demure housewife. This lady has a wild past, and sometimes her wild side comes out a little too strong. She's often seen straying from her marriage, exploring other options with different men. And sometimes, it's a little surprising who she chooses to approach.

One of the most surprising moments involving Lois was when she attempted to hit on Justin Bieber. She was clearly full intent on leaving Peter for the pop-star, which makes us questions how many times she's done this in the past during her marriage to Peter.

12 Peter Once Left Lois For A Man

Lois isn't the only one who has strayed in this relationship in surprising ways. During an episode of Family Guy, Peter's preferences are thrown into question as he suddenly finds himself attracted to men. Eventually, he ends up leaving his family behind, pursuing a new relationship with another man.

Obviously, this all goes back to normal in the next episode, and Peter eventually returns to his old preferences, reclaiming Lois as his wife, but for a while there, we were questioning where this whole thing was going. 11 Lois Once Dressed Up As Grimace From McDonald's In The Bedroom

Peter and Lois are well known for their bedroom antics. Over the years, we've seen them role play and experiment in surprising and hilarious ways. It's definitely one of the running gags of the entire show, and we can never quite guess what they're going to try next, but one of the most surprising moments in the show was when Lois role played as Grimace.

For those who don't know, Grimace is a mascot for McDonald's, and this character was active in TV commercials many years ago. We don't see much of Grimace anymore. For whatever reason, Peter obviously had some kind of fantasy involving Grimace, which is pretty hilarious.

10 Lois Was Originally Blonde

We all know that Family Guy has evolved a lot over the years. In the beginning, it was a show that seemed relatively innocent, only making vaguely inappropriate jokes and getting a little random on rare occasions. Over the years, the show has pushed the limits more and more, making jokes that are always more daring and random than the last.

But that's not the only thing that has changed. Lois actually used to be blonde. That's right, this mother actually used to have blonde hair instead of her signature red hair, and this was changed very quickly. It's hard to imagine Lois as a blonde, but it did happen.

For all intents and purposes, Lois is a good mother. She has her moments, but most fans would agree that she is far more responsible and attentive than Peter, generally speaking, but did this woman ever actually want children in the first place?

Fans who have seen most episodes of Family Guy will know that she's made her opinion very clear on this matter. She has stated numerous times that she never actually wanted to have a single child, let alone three. While she is resigned to the family life with Peter, it's quite obvious that she never envisioned herself as a mother.

Since the very beginning of the show, Meg has been somewhat of an outcast in the family. She is almost universally hated by every other member of family, and never seems to get any appreciation from anyone, but could there be a reason behind this? Many fans know that Peter is likely not the real father of Meg. Her real father is probably a guy named Stan Thompson. This definitely makes Meg's role more understandable, but it also says a lot about the nature of Lois and Peter's relationship.

6 Peter Has Fathered Countless Children

While Lois has had quite a few children, she is outdone by Peter in that department. In one episode, it is revealed that Peter has technically fathered countless other children. This was due to a mistake with Peter's DNA which was used to father an incredible number of children.

These children eventually show up at his house, desperate to meet their biological father. It's a fun joke that makes up the basis for an entire episode. It also "evens the score" a little when you consider Lois' other children. That being said, Peter technically didn't do anything wrong here.

5 Lois Once Made Out With Meg's Boyfriend

We all know that Lois has a somewhat strained relationship with Meg. Although the mother and daughter seem quite close at the beginning of this series, they seem to have grown apart over the years. This is mostly due to Lois' changing attitude towards her daughter, as she becomes more and more hostile towards the "black sheep" of the family.

One of her worst moments as a mother was when she successfully made out with Meg's new boyfriend. Meg comes home to find her mother and her own boyfriend in a compromising situation on the couch. Needless to say, Meg wasn't overly impressed.

4 Lois Once Gambled Away Peter's Car

Lois isn't just impulsive when it comes to romantic situations and opportunities, she also shows off her wild side when it comes to things like gambling. In one famous episode, she actually gambled away the family car while at a casino. In the end, Peter had to literally drag Lois away from the slot machines.

This shows that although Peter is typically seen as the irresponsible partner in this relationship, that's not always the case. Lois can sometimes act with almost no concern for the family, and Peter shouldn't get all the blame for his wild actions.

3 Both Parents Once Lost Custody Of Their Children

Losing custody of your children is probably one of the worst things that can happen to a couple, and Lois and Peter briefly experience this. It happens when Peter actually injures Lois to the point where she has to be hospitalized. The authorities take notice, and the children are taken away.

Funnily enough, the children are adopted by Cleveland and his family. Peter is infuriated by this, and attempts to win back his children by showing the world just how bad of a parent Cleveland is. Of course, this tactic completely backfires in typical Peter fashion.

2 Peter And Lois Once Sold Meg To The Goldman Family

We all know that Meg isn't the most beloved member of the Griffin family, but even so, selling your own daughter seems like it's going pretty far, even for Peter; but this is exactly what happens in one episode of Family Guy, and Peter sells Meg to the Goldman family. Meg obviously isn't happy about this, but her objections are dismissed by Peter.

Meg is soon put to work at the Goldman house. This is definitely one of the strangest parenting decisions we've ever seen in Family Guy, and Lois is guilty here as well. She doesn't do much to stop her daughter from being sold, and the family seem happy to be rid of her.

1 Lois Once Traveled Back In Time And Married Quagmire Instead

Throughout various episodes, it becomes obvious that Quagmire is very attracted to Lois, perhaps more so than any other person, but most of the audience believed that this simply would never happen. After all, Lois didn't seem very interested in Quagmire, no matter how hard he tried to win her over.

But there was one episode where the unthinkable actually does happen. Lois travels back in time, and she finally becomes romantic with Quagmire. Not only that, but she marries him and had kids with him! All three of her children look like Meg, Chris, and Stewie, aside from the fact that they have extremely large chins.
