Warner Bros. have engaged none other than Timothee Chalamet to take on the legendary role of Willy Wonka, and they expected this to be one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Things seemed to be coming along nicely, except for one little problem that rose to the surface. The moment Timothee Chalamet was announced as Willy Wonka, fans immediately rejected the idea, declaring that he was not the right fit and that there were already too many versions of this tale that have been previously released.

As far as fans are concerned, this idea is a huge flop.

Timothee becomes Willy Wonka

Timothee Chalamet is beyond excited to take on the fabulous life of Willy Wonka, and considering that this will be the debut of his singing and dancing skills, he's also ready to put in the work.

A huge part of this process will involve Timothee getting prepared and properly rehearsed for this new experience, and he's eager about the new challenges that lie ahead.

Unfortunately, fans just don't feel the same way. They've heard about the reprisal of the story, and they're just not interested in this at all.  The tale of Willy Wonka has been told and retold so many times that fans are over it. They are familiar with the story and they know how it unfolds, so there's very little interest in making it - or watching it- all over again in a new form.

The original depictions were the fan-favorites, and they're happy to stop there, making this a very tough role for Chalamet to execute with success.

Timothee Chalamet Is Shunned

Timothee isn't getting the warm welcome he expected. He figured this role would be popular enough that he'd generate instant excitement and would find huge success, but the entire concept is being shunned, from the start.

Fans have responded to say; "They need to leave Willy Wonka alone!" and "whoa, why Chalamet" as well as; "Why can't they leave these movies alone. We don't need 60 versions of the same thing," and "casting Chalamet is a miss."

Others wrote in with; "WHY. We have 3,000,356 versions of this movie already," and "I feel like he needs to finish puberty first before stepping into that tophat lol.. Willie Wonka and Peter Pan are very different fictional characters lol 🤪"

The consensus was evident in responses such as; "Like him but really?! How many times do they need to remake this movie?!?! I say no to a remake. 🙅🏻‍♀️," and "Can we like…… not???? Please," as well as; "I mean it couldn't be any worse then what Tim Burton did to it 🤷‍♀️," and "I love Timmy but this role is a hard no."
