SZA and Kehlani left fans talking when they made their way to Rihanna’s Met Gala afterparty in New York holding hands earlier this week.
The two, who have been friends for years, had given onlookers every reason to believe they were a couple simply going off by their flirtatious body language, which became apparent inside the venue where Kehlani and SZA appeared just as close to each other.
Of course, it can be said that the R&B singers could simply just be good friends, but when Kehlani then went on her Instagram Story and referred to the “Good Days” hitmaker as her “girlfriend,” fans were eager to know what’s going on with the pair.
So far, neither Kehlani nor SZA have addressed the rumor, but people seem to think there’s more going on between these two than meets the eye.
Kehlani, who is gearing up for the release of her next album, Blue Water Road, and once dated NBA star Kyrie Irving, came out as gay in a video she posted on TikTok earlier this year, but SZA has never publicly addressed her sexuality with her fans.
For all they know, she’s strictly into guys (allegedly).
In another Instagram video, which Kehlani has since deleted, the “Can I” vocalist told her millions of fans, “It’s true, I am gay ga-gay gay gay!!!
“I finally realized I’m lesbian,” she added, further adding that her family was not surprised by the revelation one bit.
The last time fans had seen SZA and Kehlani together in public was in April when the doting pals were dining with fellow singer Lizzo in Los Angeles.
As a trio, they headed to West Hollywood hot spot The Nice Guy, and from what was documented on their Instagram Stories, they had a good time together. At the time, when photos of the pair leaving the restaurant emerged online, some fans were wondering why SZA was holding hands with the “All Me” singer.
This, together with their closeness at Rihanna’s afterparty, has led many to believe there’s more than an innocent friendship going on between SZA and Kehlani, but it appears they are choosing to keep it under wraps — for now at least.
