Total Drama Island centers around teenagers from different backgrounds that are forced to compete in dangerous challenges in a televised game show. The last one standing will win a cash prize.

In 2007, the first season of the original series, also titled Total Drama Island, aired on Teletoon in Canada for the first time. After it performed well with target audiences, the show debuted on Cartoon Network in the United States the following year, staged as spin-off reality shows with most of the same characters.

The Total Drama franchise ran for a total of five seasons over the span of eight years. Seasons 2-4 were titled Total Drama Action, Total Drama World Tour, and Total Drama: Revenge of the Island. The fifth season was split into two parts: Total Drama All-Stars and Total Drama: Pahkitew Island.

Upon hearing the news of the new series, fans of the original series were elated to hear that the Cartoon Network series will be getting a reboot. Some fans took to Twitter to express their excitement:

Other shows that are set to join the new programming lineup include three new Ben 10 specials, a new series from Steven Universe, a second season of the forthcoming Gremlins prequel, a spinoff of Teen Titans Go, The Amazing World of Gumball Movie, and the fourth season of Infinity Train.
