Prince Harry tried chicken and waffles for the first time in his life and fans can’t help but think the royal is settling into his new life in the U.S. rather well.

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, reportedly dined at the well-known soul food eatery Melba’s on Friday in Harlem, New York, where the father of two enjoyed Southern fried chicken and eggnog waffles, catfish, collard greens, spring rolls, and yams.

One onlooker, according to Page Six, shared, “Harry said it was the first time he’d ever tried chicken and waffles and remarked it was delicious.”

Collard greens had already been a favorite of Harry’s thanks to Markle’s mother, Doria, who makes the dish for the couple ever-so-often, but southern food was rather new for the redhead.

Following the report, fans took to Twitter, joking that Harry is quite the changed man while another quipped he’ll never go back to “tea and crumpets” after trying a full-on southern dish.

Sources say the couple did not plan their visit to the restaurant, so one can only imagine how taken aback customers and staff members were when the two walked in.

Another onlooker said, “When they first pulled up, it was maybe two SUVs. My boss was like, ‘What’s going on?’ and I very distinctly remember thinking, ‘Whatever, it’s probably some rich person, no reason to stop eating.’ Then he said ‘It’s Prince Harry and Meghan!’”

One person had told Markle that they hoped she “didn’t eat too much for breakfast” given the generous portion that comes with eating soul food, which made the Duchess of Sussex laugh.

Following their visit, the owners of the restaurant shared that Markle and Harry vowed to make a donation of $25,000 to support the business amid food struggles that had been brought upon by the coronavirus pandemic.

“It was such an honor to welcome Prince Harry & Meghan, the Duke & Duchess of Sussex to Melba’s! The team and I are so thankful for their visit and commitment to donating $25k & hope to welcome them back soon. #sweetpotatopiehugs," the restaurant tweeted.
