On Friday, Netflix released the first official trailer for the second part of the popular crime series Lupin. The second season is expected to pick up after the cliffhanger ending of the first.

Created by George Kay and François Uzan, and based on the character created by Maurice Leblanc, the series follows Assane Diop, played by Omar Sy. He is a gentleman thief that takes on the persona of Arsène Lupin and sets out to avenge his father’s wrongful death.

The French thriller series became a breakout hit in the month of January. Netflix predicted that the series would generate more buzz than the popular series Bridgerton, according to TVLine. The first season was projected to be watched in more than 70 million households in its first four weeks of release - and while it didn't actually outpace the Shondaland megahit, it came close.

In the trailer, Assane's son is kidnapped by the wealthy Hubert Pellegrini, who framed his father for a crime he didn't commit. In Part 2, Assane must devise a new plan to save his son before it's too late.

The first part of the series consisted of five episodes. As of right now, it’s unknown how many episodes will be in the second part.

An official release date has not been confirmed, but the show is expected to return to the streaming service in summer 2021.
