Demi Lovato is in hot water with fans who are anything but pleased about their newfound friendship with controversial YouTube star Tana Mongeau.

Earlier this month, the “Dancing With the Devil” hitmaker appeared to have ended their rumored relationship with Noah Cyrus after having spent an evening partying up a storm with Mongeau at an event hosted by Paris Hilton.

Cyrus, who was once romantically linked to Mongeau, deemed the move by Lovato to hang with Mongeau anything but cool, and it immediately prompted her to hit the unfollow button on the Disney alum.

Now, with Cyrus and Lovato no longer on good terms, people are beginning to question whether or not the latter should be spending time around Mongeau, who previously admitted to having battled a drug addiction in the past.

In April, Mongeau admitted that they struggled with Xanax pills for a long time, adding that she had gotten to a point where she no longer cared about living, and subsequently became very suicidal in the process.

"I was definitely taking enough to where I wasn't trying to kill myself, but I definitely didn't care if I died,” the blonde admitted in a YouTube video back in April 2020.

"The night before we started filming the season I told Jordan how much I was taking when all that s--t happened with my mom. He was kind of like, 'So you tried to kill yourself?' And I was like, 'No, I just took this amount of pills,' and he was like, 'If you're taking that much and you know it can kill you, you're okay with that?’"

It’s no secret that Lovato is a recovering addict, who has battled their own fair share of substance abuse over the course of 14 years. They infamously relapsed in 2018 when they overdosed and were rushed to a hospital, where they suffered from three strokes and a heart attack, as revealed in her candid Dancing With the Devil YouTube documentary.

“I had three strokes. I had a heart attack. My doctors said that I had five to 10 more minutes,” she explained. “I’ve had so much to say over the past two years wanting to set the record straight about what it was that happened. I’ve had a lot of lives. Like my cat, you know? I’m on my ninth life.”

It seems as though concerned fans are just going to have to keep their eyes out for any signs of trouble coming from this friendship - if any occur.
