Who can forget the infamous feud between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B in 2018? In September of that year, the two female rappers attended Harper’s Bazaar’s ICONS party in New York City, and after months of reports claiming that the pair were beefing behind the scenes, things escalated when they finally came face-to-face, with Cardi alleging that Nicki had made some not-so-nice comments about her rival’s parenting skills.

Nicki strongly denied ever saying anything about Cardi and her daughter Kulture, but the Bronx native refused to believe any of it, prompting her to throw a tantrum at the fashion event before launching herself at Nicki in an attempt to get physical with the “Super Bass” hitmaker. Of course, we all know how that turned out for her when she left the occurrence with a swollen lump on her forehead.

At the time, it was believed that entertainment blogger Jason Lee may have instigated the feud between Nicki and Cardi, but what exactly happened and what did he say that had fans convinced he may have been to blame for all of the fiasco?

Was Jason Lee At Fault For Nicki Minaj’s Feud With Cardi B?

Nicki and Cardi first collaborated on the Migos track “Motorsport” in 2017, but there was a lot of drama centered around the song over claims that the “Please Me” hitmaker requested her husband Offset to get Nicki to change her verse because she felt as if the self-proclaimed Queen of Rap was “taking shots” with certain punchlines.

Nicki complied and revised her lyrics, but she later opened up about the situation, saying that she didn’t like the aggressive way in which Cardi demanded the verse to be changed, particularly since Nicki never dissed the 28-year-old on the record, to begin with.

Months would go by and the two would engage in a social media war, and it didn’t take long for fans to realize that these women were now tangled up in one of the biggest Hip Hop feuds in a while.

Following the infamous brawl at the ICONS party in NYC, Jason Lee came forward and said he had no issues with Nicki, despite fans’ speculation he had instigated the feud between the Trinidadian and Cardi since he shares close ties with the “Up” rapper.

It was also no secret that in the lead-up to the fashion event, Jason had made a series of not-so-nice comments about Nicki, giving people all the more reason to believe he had some sort of involvement in the beef, though he strongly denied being anti-Nicki in an interview with The Breakfast Club two weeks after Cardi was seen exiting the building with a swollen lump on her head.

"Let me say this...I love Nicki Minaj up to...even with the whole fighting Cardi and all that. That had nothing to do with me. I didn't care about that. What I had an issue with was when it became personal. My phone number getting leaked...I'll say this. Her fans make you not like her. That's the crazy part.”

While he claimed to have no issue with Nicki, he then went on to say, "Buy the tickets to the show. Buy her merch. Fund her career. Figure out how to get her trucks loaded up in London or wherever the f*** those shows getting canceled. Get her shows on. Don't worry about my Instagram.”

In August 2018, a month before the fashion event incident, Jason “diagnosed” Nicki with “jealousy, fear, and desperation,” adding that the latter was angry that another woman had gotten just as big as she was in the music industry.

Jason believed that Nicki couldn’t stand the idea of another woman taking her limelight, especially since she had been ruling the music industry as the most successful female rapper of all-time — and if that wasn’t enough, he also claimed that Nicki was bitter because Cardi’s rise to stardom happened rather quickly.

As of late, Jason has taken to his Hollywood Unlocked blog to say that he no longer shares any ill feelings towards Nicki and credited her for all of the success she’s had in the past decade.

He even complimented her on being one of the hardest working women in rap, adding that most of the new female rappers didn’t stand a chance to go up against Nicki’s writing skills, but the Barbz aren’t convinced that his nice words are genuine by any means.

His supposed involvement in the feud between the two female rappers hasn’t gone unnoticed, and while he may no longer have an issue with Nicki, the latter has made it very clear that she wants nothing to do with him.
