Social media users are defending Jenny Slate after her ex-boyfriend Chris Evans has been rumored to be in a committed relationship.
Slate and Evans were in an on-again, off-again romance between 2016 and 2018. The actress and comedian addressed the relationship and the breakup in an interview with Variety at the time.
As some fans of Evans think he is now in a serious romance with a mystery East Coast woman, the spotlight is back on Slate. One anonymous poster reached out to celebrity gossip page DeuxMoi reigniting the conversation around Slate and the public scrutiny and negative comments she was subjected to during her relationship with the MCU actor.
Fans Defend Jenny Slate From Harmful Abuse Accusations
The choice of bringing back Slate seems a bit odd given the two have called it quits years ago.
However, the comments about Evans’ rumored new relationship are among the hottest speculation on gossip discussion page, which would explain why anonymous sources are ready to unearth any piece of gossip they could find.
According to users on Instagram account @deuxmoi.discussions, Slate has been accused of allegedly hitting Evans. TikTokers are taking aim at the actress for some comments she made during her relationship with Evans, hinting at them play fighting a lot. These were twisted to feed a harmful narrative of Slate being an abuser.
Fans Want Trolls To Leave Slate Alone
In April 2016, the couple appeared together on Anna Faris’ podcast Unqualified where they discussed their relationship and seemed very much in love.
"I've never hit anybody as much as I hit Chris," Slate said as they were recording the podcast, which, at a pre-pandemic time, was done with host and guests together in a studio.
You can hear Evans giggling as a clear sign Slate was joking and suggesting the two would be very touchy-feely with each other (at the 26:25 mark) rather than engaging in actual fights.

I think they both really cared for each other but are on different paths. They’re both with new partners and are happy,” another fan wrote.
While Evans hasn’t confirmed his alleged new relationship, Slate is engaged to art curator Ben Shattuck. In February this year, the pair welcomed their first child together.
