Oops, she did it again!
Britney Spears, or whomever it is that handles her social media accounts, has just posed an image and caption that have captured the attention of millions of fans. For one fleeting moment, this seemed like it had the potential of being an average, uneventful post, but the words that were written changed all of that pretty quickly.
The Weird Album Tease
The photo is of Sam Asghari and Britney Spears standing next to one another, dressed in casual attire. They're posed in a confident, cocky way for the cameras, and at first glance, all seemed to be in order.
Just as fans began to celebrate seeing a full body shot of Britney that didn't suggest harm or foul play, they were reminded that it's still Britney's Instagram account they were peering in to, and of course, nothing is normal. Her caption teased the release of an album that doesn't exist, and it got worse from there.
The caption read; "@samasghari and I are dropping an album and this will be the 💿 cover .... produced by @drdre ... #joking 😂🙊😜 !!!!"
Of course, Sam Asghari is the furthest from being a singer, and Britney Spears couldn't possibly be further from releasing an album. Her conservatorship is such a convoluted mess that it seems it will take years before new music from Spears could even be considered. If you think this was a strange, overly sarcastic tease, you're right... and it gets worse.
Leave Dr. Dre Out Of This
There's a time and a place for every joke, and tossing Dr. Dre's name around right now is very untimely. The music mogul was just released from the hospital after a horrifying scare, and is currently dealing with the after effects of suffering a brain aneurysm. This is likely not the best time for Spears to be joking around about collaborating with him.
Fans aren't sure what to make of this very random name-drop, aside from just writing it off as another strange and bizarre move by Britney Spears that the world will never understand.
Fans Freak Out
The moment the post went up, Sam Asghari responded to the caption by stating; "Only I won’t be in it 😂," immediately removing himself from the conversation. Fans weighed in to say; "Britney you can’t play like that 😩😩," and "I'm not laughin."
If this post was meant to be a joke, it definitely missed the mark. One sharp-eyed, skeptical fan went so far as to note; "The picture was uploaded to Sam’s and Brit’s IG at the same time. Just sayin."
