Lil Nas X's Satanic Shoes

Earlier this year, Lil Nas caused quite a stir with the promotion of the infamous Satan shoes, said to contain a drop of blood.

A partnership between the artist and design company MSCHF Product Studio, the shoes were part of a marketing campaign tied to the release of Lil Nas' new single and queer anthem Montero (Call Me By Your Name), whose video contains explicit satanic imagery.

The collaboration raised some concerns at Nike, who has filed a trademark lawsuit against the New York-based design company.

The sportswear brand followed up with a motion for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction, claiming that the satanic association would damage the brand. Despite the shoes not being affiliated with Nike, thousands of people on social media slammed the company and threatening to boycott it.

At the hearing, the lawyers hired by MSCHF argued that the shoes are “individually-numbered works of art that were sold to collectors for $1,018 each.”

But the federal judge sided with Nike, issuing a temporary restraining order against the satanic shoes.
