Nene Leakes has stunned fans with the heartbreaking revelation that her husband, Gregg Leakes, is “transitioning to the other side” during a recent appearance at her Atlanta lounge, The Linnethia.
Footage obtained by It’s OnSite sees the 53-year-old address a customer who had called her “rude” for not giving them a happy birthday shoutout, leading Leakes to share her personal pain in front of the crowd.
As she grabbed the microphone, the former Real Housewives star is heard saying, “My husband is transitioning to the other side.
“You don’t know what we’re dealing with right now. We walked in this lounge because we had to walk in this lounge because this is our business. So, when people approach and say, ‘you’re rude because you don’t want to say happy birthday,’ my husband is at home dying. I don’t want to say ‘happy birthday,’ okay?”
Fans will recall that Gregg was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer back in 2018 — which was well-documented on RHOA — before learning that the disease had gone into remission after successfully completing his chemotherapy treatment.
But in June 2021, Leakes told fans that her husband’s cancer had returned, leading the latter to spend several weeks in the hospital over the summer.
It’s unclear whether he ever returned home after his admission since things are now believed to have worsened to the point where he’s said to be “transitioning.”
“I’d love for everybody to pray for Gregg, that would be beautiful. Pray for his strength, and pray for me too,” Leakes concluded.
Fans are absolutely devastated by the unsettling news of Gregg’s health condition, with thousands of fans taking to social media to send their well-wishes to the Leakes family.
Others praised the former Glee star for how she handled the incident at her lounge, saying that she shouldn’t feel obliged to acknowledge someone’s birthday by any means.
The mother of one married her husband back in 1997 before divorcing in 2011. The pair then remarried in 2013 and have remained together ever since.
